Step 1 Log into ‘www.acs.org’ on your device (phone or laptop) Click ‘Join ACS’ at the upper right part of the page.

Step 2 Fill in your ‘contact information’ in the spaces provided. Spaces marked with asterisk are compulsory, you must provide information there before you proceed. When you are done, click ‘Continue’ button to proceed. Select “Work” from the drop down menu if you wish to use your institution as your mailing address. Province here means “State.”

Step 3 On this page, fill in your ‘Education and Employment’ details in the appropriate spaces. Click ‘Continue’ button to proceed.

Step 4 On the “Benefits” page, check the boxes appropriately according to what you desire. Endeavor to read and understand the information. This will help you to make the best choice. Some choices means more money! If you are interested in some Divisions within the Society, or to receive information or be part of their activities, you may want join them. Example: Division of Environmental Chemistry. Some students may be interested in research information from specific journals, you may want to subscribe at reduced rate to one or two of these under the “ACS Publications.” Example: “Organic Letters.” “Member Benefits “ are benefits only members of ACS can enjoy. Click the ‘Continue’ button to proceed.

Step 4 (contd.) On the next page, you will be asked to confirm all the benefits you have chosen on previous page. You have the choice to remove some unwanted items at this point. Click “Save” to proceed.

Step 5 Choose the ‘Credit card’ (In Nigeria, only Visa & MasterCard ATM Debit/Credit works). You will see this as “MC/VC”. Fill in ‘Card Owner’s name’ Type in the ‘Card number’, ‘Expiration date (MM/YYYY)’, ‘Credit card verification (i.e your card’s “CVV/CVC”)’, see the description on the pictures. Click ‘Continue’ button to proceed.

Step 5 On the ‘Checkout’ page, you are expected to review the information you have provided so far. Ensure that your names are correctly spelt and addresses are captured appropriately. Also ensure that you confirm the amount of money to be paid. Click the ‘Submit Payment’ button at the top right part of the page to proceed (see arrow).

Step 7 This is the final step in ACS member registration. If the payment was successful, a Invoice Number and Member Number will be displayed on this page with other information. At this point, you can print your receipt and start enjoying the benefits of joining the largest Chemical Society in the world! Immediately after payment, you will have a new window pop-up for user ID registration. Please this is important as this ID will be used for logins into ACS website and to access publications.
