IRP DEVELOPMENT KEY POINTS A blank IRP is given to the participant upon completion of work registration or it is mailed to the participant along with the 1st appointment letter The IRP is initiated - the initial assessment and the participant goals are discussed with the participant within 1 week after the completion of work registration, or within 10 days of becoming a mandatory participant (whichever is sooner). Ensure that both long and short term employment goals are identified on the IRP Discuss educational goals – encourage educational goal, but this is not a requirement Barriers that are identified should mirror the goals –indicating that the barrier is preventing achievement of the goal that the individual is working towards Identify the Countable Work Activity that the participant will be engaged in

IRP DEVELOPMENT KEY POINTS Write Clear Steps to Self Sufficiency that address the following: (WHO, WHAT, WHEN, BEGIN and END) Removal of barriers as appropriate How the participant will be engaged into the required work activity What activity the participant will be engaged in When the participant is required to start the activity When the participant is required to submit documentation The duration of the activity/step How often will the step be reassessed - bi-weekly during the scheduled appointment is recommended, but no less than quarterly The IRP must be completed within 30 days from the date the individual becomes a mandatory Set personal alerts to indicate the expiration of goals and/or steps The IRP must be completed and signed by both the participant and staff within 30 days from the date the case opens as mandatory

TRACKING THE ENGAGEMENT KEY POINTS Work activity is assigned using the participant’s prior work history, skills and employment goals as identified on the initial assessment and IRP development Program engagement is documented in steps to self sufficiency and are signed by both career advisor and the participant The steps to self sufficiency are reviewed with the participant at least bi- weekly Documentation to support program engagement is submitted on a weekly basis to the career advisor or as outlined in the IRP JPR’s are updated immediately upon receipt of documentation Penalties are imposed timely
