HIV/AIDS Implementation Science Research Across NIH: Recent Highlights, Current Priorities, and Partners Christopher Gordon, PhD Branch Chief, Division of AIDS Research National Institute of Mental Health

Top Line Messages HIV/AIDS implementation science has been supported across NIH since prevention and treatment tools have been available A wide range of dissemination and implementation research has been solicited through FOAs from many ICs. Partnering with implementing agencies (e.g., CDC, PEPFAR) has been critical, and continues to expand. Moving forward, important to triage and target highest priorities, coordinate efforts, and seek efficiencies

A (partial) Timeline for NIH-funded HIV/AIDS Implementation Science Early 2000s, research funded in dissemination and implementation science focused on evidence-based prevention interventions NIMH published a PA in 2006 focused on D&I research in collaboration with the CDC’s DEBI project (Diffusion of Effective Behavioral Intervention) NIMH standing FOA (revised and updated every three years) that has evolved with the availability of further prevention and treatment advances.
