Introduction IPWEA Engineering Leadership Program (Program designed by MECC Consulting Pty Ltd) IPWEA Management Leadership Program. JOB ROLE Coordinator – Road & Drainage Infrastructure in the Engineering Services Department of the City of Greater Geelong. Commenced as Works Engineer at City of Geelong, Dec 1986 – 24 years ago. Went onto roles as a Special Projects Engineer and Drainage & Programming Engineer at City of Greater Geelong. I shall talk about Local Government and Public Works Engineering And present this in two parts 1. Institute of Public Works Engineering 2. City of Greater Geelong – and the delivery of Community Infrastructure 2

The Management Leadership Program 14 future managers undertook a 5 day program over 5 months to learn and acquire management skills from industry leaders. This program was facilitated by independent professionals. Session 2 – Finance and Risk Management Jude Munro has been CEO of four Councils: St Kilda, Moreland, Adelaide and Brisbane City Council. She has a broad range of knowledge and experience with networks across government and the private sector. Jude is solutions oriented and has a view that no challenge is too large and that all conflicts can be mediated. Held at The Mordialloc Room, 1230 Nepean Highway, City of Kingston 33
Session 3 – People Management Dr Susan Inglis. Helps leaders/managers manage their people, providing coaching, facilitation and team collaboration. She has been teaching leadership and management at MBA level since 2009 at RMIT and now La Trobe University, so have useful frameworks to develop leadership capabilities. Session 4 – Stakeholder Engagement and Communications Management David Hawkins, Managing Director, Socom. Crisis and issues management specialist, Managing Director at Socom. With 30 years in the PR profession, spanning crisis and issues management, media relations, community engagement, and government relations. Held at Drake International – Level 40, 55 Collins Street, Melbourne David has worked in all levels of Government to assist in crises including the Home insulation scheme, Black Saturday bushfires and the Cranbourne methane gas incident. 35

Session 5 – Strategy, Innovation and Business Planning Dr Dahle Suggett She is a director at PTR Consulting and a Principal Fellow at the University of Melbourne Graduate School of Education. She has extensive experience in executive management and policy and strategy development. 37
