FI-CA and FI-AR What is the Difference ? PRESENTED BY Jeremiah Chibvuri SAP ISU-FICA; FI; REFX Consultant 26 November 2010

Introduction Tracking Multiple Receivables Functionalities Conclusion Questions

Introduction Account Receivable (FI-AR) and Contract Account Receivable (FI-CA) tracks accounts receivable transactions SAP FI delivers the standard FI-AR module to track accounts receivables Complexity of requirements and increase in volume of data lead to the development of FI-CA FI-CA was developed to deal with A large number of different customers Different types of receivables

Tracking Multiple Receivables In FI-AR a customer can only be linked to one receivable account Impossible to trace different receivable for one customer in different account. Create multiple customers with different receivables In contrast, FI-CA has multiple level master data The highest is Business Partner, equivalent to a customer in FI-AR A Contract Account is created for each Receivable for a singular Business Partner Contract Object Distinguish Receivables within a CA

FUNCTIONALITIES Both FI-AR and FI-CA supports the following functionalities Account debit payments Credit Processing Electronic Bank Statement (EBS) Interest Calculation Dunning

FUNCTIONALITIES The following functionalities are limited only to FI-CA: Installment Plans Collection Agencies Cash desk Payments (with credit cards and postal orders) Security deposits ( both cash and Non-cash)

CONCLUSION FI-CA incorporates more accounts receivable function than just processing invoice and maintaining master date. These functions are needed if you deal with a large customer base and high volume of invoice and payments. This is the case with: Utilities Insurance Telecommunication Public Sector Media
