PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIP, PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY AND 100% PAUL HARRIS CLUBS Bringing positive change to communities around the world Rotary has a more than 100-year record of serving communities here at home and around the world. Today I want to show you A LITTLE ABOUT EACH PROGRAM. TALK ABOUT HOW WE CAN ENCOURAGE PARTICIPATION RECOGNIZE MEMBERS FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS

WHAT IS A PAUL HARRIS FELLOWSHIP? You make a contribution of $1,000 to TRF Manual Checks payable to TRF Quarterly Dues Statements with Additional Billing for Contributions You select when to receive your Paul Harris Fellow Award (pin and certificate) You may gift them to others as well Paul Harris Fellowships are easy to accomplish AND make a huge difference to the funding for projects. Contributions can be made either by check, paid quarterly with your dues or by Rotary Direct. Many Clubs will receive gifts of Paul Harris Fellowships to give special community awards such as special Firemen, Police, Teachers, OR COMMUNITY LEADERS Achieving 100% PHF status is a big deal and should be celebrated by your club to build enthusiasm and help to create more understanding of the foundation.

WHAT IS A 100% PAUL HARRIS CLUB? For clubs in which all dues-paying members are Paul Harris Fellows. This is a one-time recognition. The goal for the year 2016-17 for our District is to achieve this goal for 10% of our clubs. Achieving 100% PHF Club will also achieve a foundation related goal for your Club COULD YOUR CLUB BE ONE OF THE 10%

WHAT IS THE PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY? $1,000 every year Annual Fund PolioPlus Fund Approved Foundation grants Its purpose is to identify, engage, and recognize members who have the ability and desire to make substantial annual gifts to help communities around the world.

WHY JOIN THE PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY? Doing so helps ensure the continued good work of Rotary members. TRF PROVIDES THE MEANS FOR US TO CONTINUE OUR PROJECTS IN OUR LOCAL COMMUNITIES AND ABROAD. When you join the Paul Harris Society, you are committing to help advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by supporting activities such as: • Providing vocational training for teachers who are establishing an early childhood education center • Supplying water filters, toilet blocks, and hygiene training • Funding a scholarship for a medical professional • Offering peace-building seminars to 200 teachers and 1,300 students • Distributing treated mosquito nets and offering medical services that help prevent malaria And do not forget Rotary’s No. 1 priority: eliminating polio from the world. Imagine the number of immunizations — and the impact on hundreds of children — that you can provide by donating US$1,000 each year.

JOINING THE PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY Become a member Join online. Complete the brochure Call the Rotary Support Center IT DOESN’T GET ANY EASIER THAN THIS

PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY RECOGNITION Members of the Paul Harris Society are eligible to receive wearable recognition to show their yearly commitment to Doing Good in the World. The chevrons can be worn with other pins, including the Paul Harris Fellow pin, Major Donor pin, Bequest Society pin, and Arch Klumph Society pin. Rotary districts are encouraged to honor new members of the Paul Harris Society in a way that is appropriate in that culture and comfortable for each member. This can include presenting them with a certificate or insignia at a district or club event. Paul Harris Society coordinators and district leaders can order Paul Harris Society chevrons from The Rotary Foundation at no cost by writing to annualfund@rotary.org or contact the appropriate International Office that serves your area.

HOW CAN YOU HELP SUPPORT YOUR CLUB? EDUCATE MEMBERS ESPECIALLY NEW MEMBERS SO THEY UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE SET GOALS FOR EACH CATEGORY THRU ROTARY CLUB CENTRAL PAUL HARRIS FELLOWS -100% PHF FOR CLUB PAUL HARRIS SOCIETY MEMBERS RECOGNIZE MEMBERS FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS CORPORATE MATCHING GIFTS HIGHLIGHT WAYS TO GIVE REVIEW REASONS TO GIVE DISCUSS HOW WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND EVERY 3 YEARS MEMBERS NEED TO UNDERSTAND HOW THE FOUNDATION WORKS AS THIS IS WHAT DRIVES THE ABILITY TO DO PROJECTS NOT ALL CLUBS HAVE THE ABILITY TO BE 100% CLUBS BUT YOU CAN CERTAINLY GET CREATIVE. I SAW A CLUB THAT WANTED TO ACHIEVE THIS GOAL AND THEY HAD A FEW MEMBERS WITH YOUNG FAMILIES WHO DID NOT HAVE THE RESOURCES AVAILABLE SO OTHER CLUB MEMBERS KICKED IN TO MAKE IT HAPPEN FOR THEM. REMEMBER THIS IS JUST A SNAPSHOT AND A ONE TIME EVENT FOR THE CLUB. REASONS TO GIVE - SUGGESTIONS? TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO PROVIDE CLEAN WATER; CAN YOU IMAGINE DRINKING FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO? PLAN BIG – WHAT YOU CONTRIBUTE TODAY COMES BACK TO THE DISTRICT IN 3 YEARS IN THE FORM OF DDF

HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT YOUR CLUB? GET CREATIVE WITH EVENTS AND FUNDRAISERS ENCOURAGE MEMBERS TO JOIN MY ROTARY AND THEN JOIN DISCUSSION GROUPS THAT PEAK THEIR INTEREST WORK WITH YOUR CLUBS UNTIL THEY ARE COMFORTABLE ASKING THEIR MEMBERS FOR SUPPORT HOST A ‘WORLD’S GREATEST MEAL’ EVENT DO A JOINT FUNDRAISER WITH THE CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL ASK YOUR CLUB MEMBERS FOR IDEAS, YOU WILL BE AMAZED AT WHAT CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED ASK YOUR MEMBERS TO JOIN MY ROTARY THEN SELECT SOME DISCUSSION GROUPS TO PARTICIPATE IN THERE ARE SO MANY DISCUSSION GROUPS IT WOULD TAKE YEARS TO GET THROUGH THEM ALL. SHARE YOUR IDEAS ON WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOUR CLUB SO YOU CAN INSPIRE OTHERS. WITHOUT THE “ASK” YOU CAN NEVER GET THE RESULTS

QUESTIONS? Thank you for your time, commitment, and support. Thank you for trusting Rotary to use your contributions to make a lasting difference.
