The bath water tends to be relatively hot for Western bathing standards.

Paintings Painting has been an art in Japan for a very long time. Chinese papermaking was introduced to Japan around the 7th century.
Calligraphy The flowing, brush-drawn Japanese language lends itself to complicated calligraphy.
Ukiyo-e Ukiyo-e, literally "pictures of the floating world ."
Ikebana Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement.
