It is the 20th-most-populous country in the world, with around 65 million people. The capital and largest city is Bangkok. The proportion of the population classified according to this - Children (under 15 years): 11.6 million people or 17.8 % - Labor force (15-59 years): 42.8 million people or 65.6 % - Elderly (60 years and over) : 10.7 million people 16.5 % - Elderly (65 years and over) : 7.2 million people 11.0 % And Life Expectancy at Birth (Average number of years a person could expect to live after birth): Male 71.8 years, Female 78.6 years Source : Institute for Population and Social Research, Mahidol University Population Gazette, 2016

Thailand Rapid Aging (60+) >30% (2035) 16.5 % (2016) > 20 % (2021) Ageing Society >10% (2005) Aged Society Hyper-aged Society Describe : Thailand step into the aging society since the year 2005 the number of seniors has more than 10 Percentage and likely scenarios the elderly increased rapidly. Current year, Thailand has aged 16% and expected in the future year 2021 the elderly more than 20 Percentage which is an complete aged society and in the next 15 years (2031) will be the super aged society by seniors for more than 28 Percentage. Long-term Care Definiton Health and social care services provided to those who have difficulty from chronic diseases, accident, disabilities and the elderly who are unable to do activities of daily living by formal (health or social personnel) or informal (family member, friend, neighbor, volunteer) care givers. The service mostly focus on social service that aims to continue rehabilitation, solve problems, and promote health for good quality of life and independence under respectation and human dignity.

Long Term Care at National Level Describe : The Project of Long – Term Care

LTC at National Level National Survey in 1986 detailed the situation of the older population for the first time. 2 National Plans on the Elderly. The RTG passed the Elderly Act in 2003.

LTC at National Level The National Committee for Older Persons was set up in 2004 according to the OP act (PM is the Chair, MoSD&HS & OPCAT are co-chairs, MoI, MoPH, MoL, MoE, MFA, MoF, NESDB, BMA, BoB, TRC, SWC, 5 NGOs & 5 experts are members).

LTC at National Level LTC was declared as a resolution in the National Health Assembly in 2009. MoPH set-up 10 committee to work on LTC to cover issues in the national plan. HHC for the elderly started in 2009 and HHC was set as a standard in HA.

LTC at National Level LTC Pilot project to develop integrated services for OP in community was implemented under MoPH and JICA cooperation, 2008- 2012 & 2013-2017 MoPH by DoH implemented LTC in community in 12 regions by voluntary basis in 2011 and continue to present.

LTC at National Level The criteria for implementing LTC in community was develop in 2011 and adjusted in 2012 & 2016) MoPH have set Tambol LTC as an indicator for MoPH annual inspection in 2013-present.

LTC at National Level In 2014 the MoPH had the policy - to use DHS management to establish Tambol LTC - to develop family care team (including referral system), palliative care in community in 2014 and promote training of family doctor to be posted in community setting.

LTC at National Level The RTG declared LTC as a national policy in 2015 and the MoPH designated the DoH to do integrated budget plan on elderly health development for all Dpt. and regional health office. The National Health Security allocated budget 600 million bath to DoH to implement LTC in 1,000 communities in 2015 (for CM & CG training and services).

LTC at National Level The RTG declared policy to reduced social inequity and increase access to government services since 2014. The RTG declared policy on life course approach, preparing to quality elderly society, promote and develop quality of life of disabled and vulnerable people in 2015.

LTC at National Level The 12th NESDB plan (2017-2021) and the 20 Years National Strategic Plan (2017- 2036)was approved in 2016. The two plans indicated policy on Human Development Throughout the Life Course .

LTC at National Level In 2016, the RTG set up - an executive committee on human development throughout the life course - a management committee for integration & collaboration on human development throughout the life course that comprises of 4 ministries to develop the 5 years plan (2017-2021) (for the elderly, the strategic plan will focus on 3S: Strong, Security & Social Participation)

LTC at National Level The 5 years plan has to in accordance with the 12th NESDB plan (2017-2021) and the 20 Years National Strategic Plan (2017- 2036)

LTC at National Level The MSD&HS had the policy - to support home improvement for frailed/poor OP - to build QoF Development center in every district (868 centers was the target in 2016)
