Overview of National Scholarship “Selection” Process Prospect applies online Prospect interviews with local ROTC PMS PMS’s review board files and school entrance eligibility HQCC conducts 3 scholarship boards Prospect receives offer letter and accepts scholarship offer to normally 1 of up to 3 school choices (within 30 days) The Four-Year High School Scholarship is for high school students planning on attending a four-year college program. WHAT ROTC OFFERS STUDENTS Nationally competitive High School scholarships 4 year scholarships are available to HS students on a nationally competitive basis. Criteria include: G.P.A., extra curricular activities and leadership potential. The Army is so confident in the program that if the Cadet does not wish to continue after 1 year they do not have to and will suffer no monetary recoupment. Application window opens in the Fall. Selection Status

ROTC AT UTEP Course work consists of two weekly 1 hour 20 minute classes, and a 2hr lab. Military Science 1, 2, 3, 4 are offered on UTEP campus. Labs are conducted on campus. Morning PT is 0600 – 0720 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. One Field Training Exercise (FTX) per semester is conducted at different sites.

WHAT ROTC OFFERS STUDENTS $300-500 a month, tax free, during the school year for expenses. An organization that fosters close group accountability and servitude in a team atmosphere to deal with life issues. TRAINING: Combat water survival training Rappelling Basic rifle marksmanship Tactics practice with paintballs Basic and Advanced Camp Ability to compete for Army schools such as Airborne and Air Assault CTLT – a program designed to give Cadets leadership experience shadowing commissioned officers on military posts all over the world. WHAT ROTC OFFERS STUDENTS Newly commissioned active duty Second Lieutenants will earn: 2LT Base Pay: $35,668 Basic Allowance for Housing(El Paso): $15,444 (tax free, based on where you live) Basic Allowance for Subsistence: $3,043 That’s $54,155 with $18,487 tax free and it goes up every two years, plus pay raises for promotions.

All must be currently enlisted or eligible for enlistment OSM’s must be the validating official on the NGB 594-1 and Unit Commanders will be the validating official on the SMP acceptance letter 5. All scholarships must be actioned before the last day of the Fall semester 6. After accepting any scholarship, the Cadet must SMP and drill monthly PLEASE NOTE: 1. Dedicated Guard scholarship winners cannot use CH 1606/1607 MGIB. They can use CH 30 or CH 33 MGIB if eligible 2. GRFD scholarship winners can use any type of MGIB 3. Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA) cannot be combined with any scholarship, however State Tuition Assistance (STA) can be used with any type of scholarship 4. GRFD Scholarships 2-Year Scholarship 1) completed BCT/AlT, but have not contracted with the ROTC department, are the primary applicants for this scholarship. 2) Scholarship basic requirements are as follows: 1. Medical: applicants must be qualified through DODMERB by completing a new DODMERB exam or having the OCR submit a copy of a MEPS medical exam within the last two years. 2. Moral: applicants must meet Cadet Command standards and have all required waivers approved prior to contracting. 3. Physical: applicants must pass an APFT with the ROTC department. 4. Education: applicants must hold the academic status of sophomore and possess a minimum grade point average of 2.5.

GRFD Scholarships 2-Year Scholarship 3) Scholarship recipients will be informed of all incentives as well as combinations allowed with other education benefits. 1. GI Bill & GI Bill Kicker eligible Cadets will continue to receive these entitlements during the scholarship period. 2. Cadets must choose one of the following scholarship options. A. Tuition and Fees option will provide full tuition & fees for in or out of state students. B. The Room and Board option is calculated at the average cost of an on-campus dorm & meal plan not to exceed $10,000 per year which is paid directly to the student each semester. When using this option the student remains eligible to use their federal tuition assistance of $4,500 per year towards tuition & fees.

GRFD Scholarships 2-3 Year Dedicated-ARNG Scholarship w/requirements Participants without BCT/AIT and who have not contracted with the ROTC department are the primary applicants of this scholarship. 2) Scholarship basic requirements are as follows: 1.
