Host a Student from Spain for Just a Few Weeks This Summer Bring Spain To You! Host a Student from Spain for Just a Few Weeks This Summer ® 2013, American Discovery Team

About The Students… They range in age from 13 to 18 Both boys & girls come in a group They are from all over Spain

The American Experience The students have been studying English for years and want to come practice their skills. They want to live the lives of American teens. They will shadow you and your family.

What Do The Students Enjoy? Going to the mall Seeing movies Eating fast food Playing video games Watching television Swimming Playing board & card games All the usual teen past-times. They just want to hang out with your family and do whatever you are doing.

Share Your Fun! If you have a trip planned, you can take your student with you. If that is not possible, the student can stay with another family until you return.

Important To Note The Students… Are fully insured Have spending money. Communicate with their families via Skype, Facebook or texting (many now come with smartphones).

Sleeping Arrangements They can share a room, all they need is their own bed, on a bunk bed, or a sleeper sofa. They do not have to have their own rooms.

Food The student will eat breakfast, most lunches, and dinner with you. Hint: They love ham and cheese sandwiches, In-N-Out burgers and s’mores

Welcome & Farewell Parties There is a Welcome Party and a Farewell Party for your student and family. We have a lot of fun, and it brings all the families together.

What Kind Of Homes If your home is an apartment or condo, you can still host. Also, if your son or daughter moves between mother & father, the student can do the same (as long as both parents agree).

Types of Activities Bowling Laser Tag Tour of Old Sac Movies Shopping Visit the Capitol Building Local field trips Much more….

Special Day Trips The students go to San Francisco twice & Six Flags Discovery Kingdom once. We charter busses and have adult chaperones. The students’ tickets are paid in advance for these trips but American families who join are responsible for their own entry tickets for activities.

You Can Join In The Fun Too! We will have a meeting point, carpools, and busses to help as many American students* possible to participate also (bus seating is limited). * Students under the age of 13 must be accompanied by an adult

Hosting Inspires If you host a student who speaks the same language your son or daughter is studying, your son or daughter will improve his/her language skills. In addition, learning about their exchange student’s life will inspire them to continue learning and maybe think about traveling in the future.

Lifetime Friendships Hosting a student is a wonderful experience. We fall in love with all our students, and we also really enjoy meeting all the American families too! Plus, the relationships can continue to grow even after the students return home.

Spanish Families Like Reciprocate Many times, after the students return home and share their experiences with their families, they in turn offer to host your family members.

Their Stay Can Feel Too Short! Overall, hosting a student provides just a few wonderful weeks of fun for your Spanish daughter or son — and lifetime memories for your family!
