Workshops to review possible candidates Key Points Workshops to review possible candidates Areas in ranked in lowest 20% on the health component of Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation Size Demographics Data Realistic Area Service Levels Community Assets Receptive Community

An area that scores well may be....... A population size that is manageable, big enough but not too large to engage with (ie.manageable to complete door to door if needed) Stakeholders feel this community may be willing/ or likely to engage and be receptive to the initiative There are agencies/ service / partnerships in the area that are likely to engage There is a good scope to build on the foundations of work in the area (ie some services have successfully engaged with this community) The mapped area works on the ground The demographics shows the population where sustainable change is possible There are some community assets within the area There is key local information available on this area which makes this community an ideal candidate for phase 1 An area that doesn`t score as well, may be....... A population size that is too large or too small to be feasible An area that ‘feels it is always experimented on’ The mapped area shown sees itself as part of a much larger geography The demographic data shows the population where sustainable change is difficult The ability of the programme to make measurable change is restricted by extremely good current engagement, community ‘ownership’ of assets and cooperation between partners
