Students with Disabilities 2014-2015 Year in Review

SWD Team Passion for programs and supports for students with disabilities Built a strong culture of collaboration and team work Built a focus on changing the things we control so that our students have the very best education possible

Classroom Titles Renames self-contained ESE classrooms to align with supports available and not eligibility area

Behavior Supports Added BCBA supports to SSPS staff Supports better aligned to needs of Pasco Training and coaching supports available Developed a standardized way to allocate behavior specialists across the district

Accessible Information SWD has developed and updated procedures on the wiki Added new areas through out the year Worked with Compliance Division to review content available and make additional updates for 2015-2016.

IRLA for ESE teachers and SLPs Provided IRLA binders and training for all elementary ESE teachers and SLPs Allowed for better alignment in ELA instruction and supports for SWDs

Central Pilot Effort to move towards more inclusive programs for students with mild disabilities in the central region Students in SCA at DOES were offered the option to go back to the student’s neighborhood school with increase supports available (ODES, OES, LMES, COES, and PVES) Each participating school is receiving: Collaborative Teaching Training in the summer Onsite support to schedule SWDs Ongoing coaching, training, and follow up support on-site for the 2015-2016 school year

Effective Scheduling Developed training to assist schools in considering the scheduling needs of students with disabilities Provided Adobe Connect sessions and on-site scheduling supports

Blended Learning in Secondary Social Behavior Programs Implemented APEX and Edgenuity in all SBP classrooms Provided training to teachers on using the blended learning model Provided on-site coaching and supports BEST PART – We have students graduating and on-track in courses!

Technology Initiatives – 1: 1 Technology Provided 1:1 iPads for all self-contained Florida Standards ESE classrooms Provided 4 sessions of training to the teachers Developed training and provided coaching for these teachers to move towards a “Learner Active Classroom” where students have increasing responsibility for their learning and engagement

Virtual Learning for HHB Moving the group of students who traditionally participated in Teleclass to a virtual platform for instruction Teleclass teachers will serve of teachers of record for core content areas HHB program will receive supports from the HHB VE and HHB CRT to increase compliance and monitor students’ needs Supports will be added for students with learning difficulties through the HHB VE teacher or itinerant teachers for organization and work completion skills if the need is justified by data Elementary, access points, and intermittent student will continue to be served with itinerant teachers

Best Practice Guidelines for All Areas Each program area will develop program guidelines Serves as an indicator of expectations for supports in the program Will provide information regarding research-based methodologies to support students with disabilities

School BPIE In accordance with statue, each school will be complete the School Best Practices for Inclusive Education Our goal is that schools will use this information in the SIP planning process to increase access to general education for students with disabilities

Mental Health Supports for Social Behavior Programs Increased mental health supports for students in SBP classrooms School are assigned a portion of a dedicated social worker to provide counseling and wrap-around supports to the students
