Introduction of Primoco UAV Prague, March 2017

About the company Primoco UAV SE is the author and original manufacturer of the unmanned aircraft system, Primoco UAV model One. The company was founded by Ladislav Semetkovský in 2014. As of February 2016, the company is fully capable of serial production of the UAS in its manufacturing facilities located in Prague, Czech Republic. The current production capacity of the company is up to 60 UAVs per year. Company has currently 20 employees.

About the product Primoco UAV is a medium-sized UAV designed to fit the market need for midsize commercial and military aircraft – a market segment poised for massive growth over the next 5-10 years. Its exceptional character owes itself not just to the composite materials used in its construction, but also its cutting-edge electronics and superb manual workmanship. The Primoco UAV is designed to provide an affordable option for early entrants into the UAV market, and to provide them with flight and payload capabilities unmatched anywhere outside of the largely inaccessible military aircrafts and at a fraction of their price. The aircraft itself is operated by remote control during each phase of flight. It is also capable of fully automatic take-off and landing, and a fully autonomous flight plan execution. The ability of the Primoco UAV to take off and land over short distances and in less accessible conditions puts it squarely in the STOL (Short Take-off and Landing) aircraft category, and makes it accessible to customers and missions without access to fully fledged airport facilities.

Key Parameters

Functional categories of UAVs and Primoco UAV

Development The development of the Primoco UAV is carried out using 3D CAD Solid Works (Dassault Systems), an established aerospace tool. The associated processes, parts and development stages are documented, described and mapped in accordance with standard aerospace and military practices. This allows us to readily identify and address any suboptimal performance, on the manufacturing floor or when airborne.

Airframe The Primoco UAV has a composite structure with a rear-mounted engine and push 2-blade propeller. The primary structure uses 100% composite fibre and carbon fibre for maximum strength and reduced weight. The covering for the wings and fuselage is a composite fibre sandwich with a foam filling, glued with epoxy resin and uses carbon parts for increased strength. After gluing, the composite covering is subsequently vacuum moulded and hardened in ovens. The paintwork is achieved using a two-part white paint. The design is finalized with a vinyl film wrap. The landing gear is manufactured using aviation duralumin. The landing gear can be steered (servomotor) and main undercarriage has electromagnetic brakes. The aircraft is shipped in transportation box with size 250 x 120 x 80 cm. Two persons can mount / dismount the aircraft in 15 minutes.

Engine & Fuel system The aircraft uses a reliable, proprietary four-cylinder, two-stroke, air-cooled engine. It is fitted with an electric starter and a 12V 300W / 1000W generator. The pusher propeller is two-bladed, with a composite construction. There are two performance options of the engine. Maximum power 20 HP / 6700 RPM 50 HP / 6800 RPM Maximum torque 22 NP / 5900 RPM 62 NP / 5800 RPM Fuel Unleaded 95 oct. gasoline Avgas 100 optionally Lubrication Mobil Racing 2T Oil, 1:30 Standard fuel tank 56 litres Average consumption 5,4 – 7,0 litres per hour

Electrical System The Primoco UAV has a 12V DC electrical system. The energy source is a 12V, engine is equipped with alternator (300 / 1000W) and battery (in flight charged & backup 6 hours). The on-board electrical system ensures a power supply in particular for the Flight Control Unit, datalink, steering the aircraft – servo-motors, illuminating the aircraft and for its accessories – the camera/sensor and transponder. Illumination of the aircraft is ensured by a collision avoidance LED light located on the wings and high performance LED main light on the front undercarriage leg. For identification purposes, a transponder in S mode comes as a standard part of the Primoco UAV aircraft. The transponder is a piece of equipment that responds to the interrogation impulses of the secondary surveillance radar of air traffic control. A transponder in S mode contains information about the aircraft, flight altitude and GPS position, as well as providing important information for the safe conduct of the flight also in relation to surrounding traffic.

Flight Control System What makes our Primoco UAV unique is the advanced development of its Flight Control System. The plane itself is controlled remotely during all of its flight phases, on the other hand it is simultaneously able to start, land and conduct a flight according to its flight plan completely automatically. The Flight Control System in terms of the aircraft itself consists of the autopilot and the datalink. Two persons are required to operate the aircraft: Pilot and Payload operator. The autopilot is the central control system of the aircraft. The basic functions of the autopilot consist of: Auto take-off Auto flight plan execution (waypoints) Fly-to Hover/hold Auto Return-To-Base (RTB) in case of communications failure Auto landing Manual override Camera (payload) stabilization, pointing and control

Communication Primoco UAV aircraft is equipped by top of class communication solution for both video transmission in real time and command control of the aircraft from ground. Our datalink provides long-range connectivity for high definition video transfer, sensor and mission control and error free UDP streaming with latency control. High speed tracking of the UAV with high precision is ensured with encrypted communication (AES 256). 3 range options are available: 60 km, 100 km and 200 km.

Ground Control Station The Flight Control System at the Ground Control Station consists of: Datalink GCS Central computer Software Joystick for manual flight mode Antenna system Camera operator console& decicated display

Software

Camera equipment

Maintenance Aircraft maintenance sets out a series of regular operations every 25–50–100 hours. It primarily involves a thorough inspection of all mechanical parts and the engine. The aircraft’s airframe is maintenance-free. Internet based application Flight Operation System will allow you to smoothly monitor each flight and will remind you about all necessary maintenance in advance.

Training Training comes as part of the package whenever you buy our unmanned aerial vehicle – just to make sure you know how to operate it correctly. Training lasts for 6- 8 weeks, depending on the experience of the pilot. Theoretical training consists of: Aviation law General knowledge concerning UAVs Flight planning and performance Human performance and limitations Meteorology General navigation and radio navigation Operational procedures Principles of flight Communications Practical training consists of: Pre-flight preparations Standard start preparations Take-off Training how to control the machine in space, developing a sense of how to orientate the machine Training how to control the machine without using auxiliary functions Training how to control the machine using auxiliary functions Terminating the flight, landing
