Concept Connections 6.3E

Directions Organize students into pairs. Each group of partners will receive cards(page 3 & 5). Have students cut out the cards from page 3 and 5. The will place the 3 blue cards down in a row on their desk. Students will then classify the situation cards(page 5) by placing the card under ONE of the 3 categories (one step, two step, multi step) in a column. Remember each card can only be classified into one category. Once all cards are classified into the 3 categories, students will complete their recording sheet. Each student will get a recording sheet. Students will record what category and what operations they will use for each situation to solve the problem. Sample recording sheet is available.

She used 1 5 of the tickets to play the ball-toss game. She then used 1 2 of the remaining tickets to play the ring- toss game, in which she won 5 more tickets. How many tickets did Wendy have after playing these games? Louis spent 12 hours last week practicing guitar. If 1 4 of the time was spent practicing chords, how much time did Louis spend practicing chords? Mr. Atkinson has 5 1 4 lbs of dry fish food. He will put an equal amount of food into 3 containers. He drops 2 of the containers of fish food. How much food Mr. Atkinson have left?
