What is AEBG(Adult Education Block Grant)? Elementary and secondary basic skills, including classes required for a high school diploma or high school equivalency certificate. Classes and courses for non-citizen eligible for educational services in citizenship and English as a second language, and workforce preparation classes in basic skills. Education programs for adults with disabilities. Short-term career technical education programs with high employment potential. Programs for apprentices. The Contra Costa County Adult Education Consortium has been formed, in accordance with AB86, Section 76, Article 3, to develop a regional plan to improve the delivery of adult education in the following program areas and address existing gaps in programs and services:

Project ACCESS: Advancing Child Care Education and Student Success Project ACCESS is a collaborative project between Diablo Valley College and Mt. Diablo Adult Education. It provides training, career and other support services for non-native speakers of English who want to enter and advance in the early childhood education (ECE) field. Students take one English as a Second Language (ESL) class and one Early Childhood Education (ECE) class per term. It is recommended that students complete assessment through the ESL placement test into ESL-086-High Intermediate Reading Comprehension and ESL-088-High Intermediate Writing.  The following sequence of linked courses are taken together: ECE-123 and ESL-091F     Spring 2017 ECE-125 and ESL-091E     Fall 2017 ECE-130 and ESL-091B     Spring 2018 ECE-124 and ESL-091C     Fall 2018

Pre-Apprenticeship Full or part-time Programs (21 units can be completed in 1 Spring semester!) Prepare to work in the trades Students will learn to: Apply basic construction techniques Apply safe work habits Create a work schedule and cost estimates Develop direct hands-on work experience at an off-site location (Fridays) Average of 85% of students transition into paid apprenticeships $17-$24 an hour with benefits directly after the program. Must be 18 or older before completion of program
