Data Security: Ferpa The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) is a federal privacy law that gives parents certain protections with regard to their children's education records, such as report cards, transcripts, disciplinary records, contact and family information, and class schedules. Parents have the right to review their child's education records To protect a child's privacy, the law generally requires schools to ask for written consent before disclosing a child's personally identifiable information to individuals other than the parent

What student data can I share? Directory Information: Name, address, telephone listing, electronic mail address, date and place of birth, dates of attendance, and grade level; Participation in activities and sports; Weight and height of members of athletic teams; Degrees, honors, and awards received; and The most recent school attended. FERPA defines "directory information" as information contained in a student's education record that would not be considered harmful or an invasion of privacy if disclosed.

CIPA Internet filters Appropriate Use Policy Children’s Internet Protection Act Requires Internet filters Appropriate Use Policy Internet safety lessons for students

Internet filter We have iBoss internet filtering in place. If an educational site is blocked, let me know and I can probably unblock it.

Internet safety lessons At some point this school year, the district curriculum director or your school’s curriculum coach will let you know it’s time to incorporate your internet safety lesson. It doesn’t have to be a long in depth lesson, but it does have to be presented to your students. And the plans for that lesson will have to copied and placed in a CIPA binder in your schools front office.

wireless network School related access only Student Password Indians@17 Staff Password Y@z00city17 I recommend connecting to the Staff network. We may disable the student network at times. Do no give the guest password to students. Do not download or stream movies and music. If 10 teachers are downloading the latest movie that could slow the network down and make it impossible for another teacher to stream an educational documentary.

Social media policy Accessing social media during school is prohibited Employees should not give social media passwords to students Employees should not use social media to post anything that might result in a disruption of the school/work environment or anything that may harm the district, students or other employees Fraternization via the internet between employees and students is prohibited
