A Good Place to Start

Township Associated Options Ride Dupage: Seniors 65 and over and persons with disabilities qualify for curb to curb service with registration in the program. Registration in the participating Township of residence is required before accessing the ride. Persons with disabilities must have a valid RTA Disability card before registering for this program. Ride Dupage To Work: Requires registration for Ride Dupage first and additional information needed for this program is current work address and supervisor contact information. This is a federally funded grant program administered by the City of Naperville for the townships within the City of Naperville’s boundaries. Volunteer positions do not qualify. PACE Call-N-Ride: The Naperville-Aurora Call-n-Ride offers reservation based, curb-to-curb, public transportation service for the general public traveling anywhere within the designated service area bounded by Interstate 88, Raymond Dr, Ogden Ave, Meadow Lakes Blvd, Shoreline Dr., Frontenac Dr, McCoy Dr. and Eola Rd. Map available. Call at least one hour in advance and up to one day in advance, 1-630-453-4599. $1.75 per one way trip. Wheelchair accessible. Trips are scheduled on first come-first served basis, weekdays 6:30AM to 7:00PM

Ride DuPage

City Options Ride Assist Naperville: New program started in November 2016 providing transportation to and from medical appointments for seniors living in Naperville. Short application and release form must be on file prior to scheduling. Schedule ride via phone, 630-864-3087, at least 4 days prior to appointment. Suggested donation is $12 per round trip, invoiced monthly. Drivers do not accept cash or tips. Drivers undergo background check and training. Website: info@rideassistnaperville.org for more info. Taxis: List of approved city licensed taxis available on City of Naperville website, www.naperville.il.us or calling City of Naperville’s Clerk Office: 1-630-305-5226 Uber/Lyft: These services are available and can be accessed through the named application on your Smart Phone. The rider has to download the app onto the smartphone and follow the instructions given for use. Drivers are background checked for safety of the rider. Payment can also be done on the smartphone so no cash is handled. Pictures of the drivers and pictures of the vehicles are available when calling in the reservation. Fares are displayed on your phone. Tuk-Tuk: Newest, fast, and fun way to get around downtown Naperville: 3 vehicles, each holding up to 6 passengers. 100% electric, quiet, eco-friendly, DOT certified and street legal. Rides are encouraged to be pre-arranged to reduce wait time. $1-5 per person fare Reservations made any time of day by calling or texting 1-815-609-9705. PACE Commuter routes: Buses and Routes are run twice a day only during commuter times. Routes are from the train station to outlying designated lots. County Grant Money for Medical Trips: Services are free for eligible senior 60+ with limited income, cannot be on Medicaid without a spend down. Limited to 1 ride per week. Additional rides require approval by Supervisor. Must call County Senior Services in order to schedule rides. Can go out of county 10 miles from home. Veterans Assistance Commission (V.A.C.): Only available for veterans to go to VA hospitals. $12 each way to Hines Hospital in Maywood. Income eligible vets only (250%poverty level). Must call 1-800-713-7445 to schedule rides after registration at VAC DuPage County Health Department: Free transport for DPCHD clients with rides only to DPCHD locations only. Registrations are only good for one year and DPCHD CM must call and request the ride

Veteran Benefits

State RTA Ride Free card: Seniors and persons with disabilities who wish to qualify for the Ride Free Transit benefit must apply first online for the Benefit Access Program and meet income eligibility requirements for benefits. Free rides apply to the Metra trains, Pace buses and CTA trains and buses. RTA Reduced Fare card: Seniors 65 and over and people with disabilities qualify for reduced rates on Metra trains, Pace buses and CTA trains and buses. Applications can be downloaded online or paper applications are taken at the Naperville Township office. Applications are mailed daily to be processed. Actual cards are NOT processed at the Township office.

Persons with Disabilities Application

Federal ADA Paratransit: Required by the federal Americans with Disabilities Act, persons certified by the RTA as a person with disabilities are eligible to use this service. Trips are only provided at the same times and within the same geographic areas as fixed route (regular bus route), within ¾ of a mile of fixed route in your area. Prior registration and testing are required for approval to use service.

Application Process Types of Eligibility ADA Paratransit is provided for individuals whose disability or health condition may prevent them from using the CTA and/or Pace fixed route services for some or all of their travel. Individuals who are interested in using ADA Paratransit service must apply and be found eligible according to ADA guidelines. The RTA ADA Paratransit Certification Program determines an individual's functional abilities and limitations for using fixed route services. To apply for ADA Paratransit, call the RTA's ADA Paratransit Certification program at 312-663-HELP (4357) between 8:30 am and 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday, to request an application. Applications are available in regular or large print English, regular print Spanish, in Braille or on audiotape. Once you have filled out as much of the application as you can, call the RTA's ADA Paratransit Certification program at 312-663-HELP (4357) to schedule an in-person interview at one of our five Interview and Assessment sites. If needed, we will provide transportation to the interview and the services of an American Sign Language or Spanish interpreter at no charge. Please bring the completed application and a photo ID with you to the interview. You may also bring additional information about your disability or health condition, but this is not required. During the interview, we will review your application form and if necessary, help you complete it. We will also discuss with you your travel abilities and limitations in more detail. You may be asked to take a "mock" bus trip. This will take about 30 to 45 minutes and will give us a better idea of your travel abilities and limitations. Please dress for the weather as you may be asked to go outside. A decision will be made on your application within 21 days of the completion of the interview and assessment. If a decision is not made within 21 days, we will provide you with ADA Paratransit service until a final decision is made. You will be notified of your eligibility by letter. If you are determined to be eligible for ADA Paratransit for some or all of your trips, you will receive a Certification Letter, a Customer Guide with information about how to use the service and a photo ID card. Types of Eligibility There are three types of eligibility: Unconditional Eligibility - Your disability or health condition always prevents you from using fixed route buses or “L” trains and you qualify for ADA Paratransit service for all of your trips. Conditional Eligibility - You are able to use the fixed route buses or “L” trains for some of your trips and qualify for ADA Paratransit service for other trips when your disability or environmental barriers prevent the use of fixed route transit service. Temporary Eligibility - You have a health condition or disability that temporarily prevents you from using the fixed route buses or "L" trains.
