Program overview A specialized, practice-oriented, niche graduate degree, designed in consultation with and support of industry leadership, and completed by students while they work full-time. Human Services Includes both nonprofit and for-profit providers that offer preventive, habilitation, and support services in alcoholism and substance abuse, developmental disabilities, family and community services, mental health, vocational rehabilitation, homelessness, child welfare and many others. Addresses a common problem in the field: when direct service employees are promoted to managerial positions, they often fail because they do not have appropriate managerial skills. This program helps employers and employees resolve this issue. Emphasis is on sharing of best practices, immediate application at the workplace, and supporting/preparing students for advancement in managerial position. Format and Value: Relatively short (36 credit hours; completed under two years of full-time attendance). Low cost: Pricing around $28K (student assistance programs available) Taught by faculty-practitioners holding administrative and executive positions at human services agencies, including for-profit providers. Convenient: offered as a blended program (support distance learners)
