Aims of the day To support you in your understanding of national unit assessment standards by: reviewing your role in the verification process giving key messages update reviewing candidate and assessment evidence discussing this evidence and associated assessment standards with colleagues. asking questions and seeking clarification about national standards
Purpose To review recent changes to Unit Assessment Support Packs (UASPs) To update understanding of National 4 Added Value Unit Higher unit assessment update To sample report writing
Your Role in Verification
Role of Nominee During verification: Carry out evidence-based verification of unit assessment approaches and judgement, National 3-Higher Draft External Verification Report for return to centre giving verification decision for each level submitted: Accepted, Accepted* and Not Accepted Collaborate with fellow Nominees/Team Leaders/Deputy PV/PV in the quality assurance of verification decisions and Report writing. Advise Team Leaders on Key Messages report at the close of verification event.

Workshop 2 Debrief Feedback from Workshop 2 and Questions
Workshop 3 – Key Messages for National 4 Added Value Unit Assessment standard 1.1 Evidence of discussions with respect to the choosing of the assignment issue. More support for candidates in selecting a question on either the causes or the impact of a historical theme or event. Choosing an appropriate question for National 4 level.
Workshop 3 – Approaches Assessment Standard 1.3 Correct understanding of assessment standards to organise information in a logical and coherent order. Be careful of overly prescriptive templates. Assessment Standards 1.4 and 1.5 These assessment standards relate to the content or the assignment. More support to candidates; tracking and monitoring.
Workshop 3 – Judgement Assessors can provide support for candidates in meeting assessment standards 1.4 and 1.5. Assessment Standard 1.6 Some statements that indicate a summing up of the question/issue are required, but not necessarily a full conclusion. Use of specialist vocabulary meets standard. Centres should support assessment judgements where possible with brief annotations. Centres should annotate at point of achievement.
