Understanding Standards: SCQF Levels 3 – 6 Scottish Studies Award

Aims of the Day To support teachers, lecturers and assessors in their understanding of national standards by: Providing an overview of the national standard for the Scotland in Focus Unit Reviewing candidate evidence Discussing this evidence and associated marking instructions with colleagues Asking questions and seeking clarification about national standards

Aims of the Day cont. In addition to supporting teachers’ understanding of the national standard, information will be provided on: Materials currently available from Education Scotland to support the Award The move from central to visiting verification and how this will affect centres.

Workshop Aims To allow delegates to gain experience in judging the Scotland in Focus Unit against the assessment standards To provide commentaries to allow delegates to confirm their assessment decisions

Workshop Task Familiarise yourself with the sample Scotland in Focus Units provided and evaluate them according to the assessment standards. In small groups: Consider the evidence Decide whether the assessment standards have been achieved.
