Space-filling curves and applications in image processing Giap Nguyen (3rd year) University ScholarShip: 2006-2009, IFI, Hanoi, Vietnam master in computer science 2002-2006, University of Dalat, Vietnam bachelor in mathematics PhD Supervisor(s): Patrick Franco Jean-Marc Ogier Rémy Mullot Funding: Regional allocation (Poitou-Charentes) 24/11/11 Journée Doctorants & Co

Space-filling curves and applications in image processing Research field : Space-filling curves Applications in relation to image processing PhD Objectives : Multidimensionnal extension of space-filling curves Space filling curves generating Space filling curve optimization 24/11/11 Giap Nguyen - Journée Doctorants & Co

Space-filling curves and applications in image processing Approach and techniques: We propose a multidimensional extension of the Hilbert curve, which offers a large family of curve. This proposal is guided by the locality preserving maximization. A curve building process is provided to exceed the cases of few dimensions. 24/11/11 Giap Nguyen - Journée Doctorants & Co

Space-filling curves and applications in image processing Other information: Comparative experimental tests show that there are some curves that preserve the locality better than the Hilbert curve (which is considered to be the best locality preserving curve) and in general, the locality preserving of the family is comparable to that of the Hilbert curve. 24/11/11 Giap Nguyen - Journée Doctorants & Co

Journée Doctorants & Co Towards an interactive index structuring system for contents retrieval in huge image databases Hien Phuong Lai (3rd year) University ScholarShip: PhD Supervisor(s): Muriel VISANI (L3I) Alain BOUCHER (IFI, Hanoi) Jean-Marc OGIER (L3I) Funding: Allocation of the French Ministry 24/11/11 Journée Doctorants & Co

Phuong Lai - Journée Doctorants & Co Towards an interactive index structuring system for contents retrieval in huge image databases Research field : CBIR, unsupervised and semi-supervised clustering Large image database Interactive system PhD Objectives : Involve the user in the clustering phase in order to reduce the semantic gap between the high-level semantic concepts expressed by the user and the low-level features. 24/11/11 Phuong Lai - Journée Doctorants & Co

Phuong Lai - Journée Doctorants & Co Towards an interactive index structuring system for contents retrieval in huge image databases Approach and techniques: Interactive semi-supervised clustering model using HMRF-Kmeans clustering method. The initial clustering is unsupervised, using k-means Repeat: The user gives relevance feedbacks, the system deducts them into the pairwise constraints (must-link and cannot-link) between images. HMRF-Kmeans method is used to re-clustering in order to minimize the sum of distances between the images and the corresponding cluster centers and also the penalties of violated constraints. 24/11/11 Phuong Lai - Journée Doctorants & Co

Phuong Lai - Journée Doctorants & Co Towards an interactive index structuring system for contents retrieval in huge image databases 24/11/11 Phuong Lai - Journée Doctorants & Co

Journée Doctorants & Co Other information: In order to automatically realize the interactive tests, we implement an user agent that simulates the behaviors of the user when interacting with the system. Currently, we are involving the BIRCH clustering method in our interactive model. 24/11/11 Journée Doctorants & Co
