Private Bus Regulations Overview Resident/Business Inquiries into Problems with Private Bus Regulations Problems With Private Buses Littering Traffic Safety Parking Near Loading Areas Public Meetings – Traffic Commission/City Council June 2014 – Ordinance 941 Approved Allows bus travel on local roads Prohibits stopping on local roads to load passengers Exceptions – Hotel Loading/Unloading, Emergency Situations, Cultural/Entertainment Events

Feedback Regarding Ordinance 941 Mostly Positive Fewer Visibility/Traffic Safety Issues Less Litter Fewer Complaints Regarding Parking Unintended Consequences Small Businesses (Restaurants/Gift Shops) Heavily Dependent on Tourist Traffic and “Tour” Buses Discussions with Local Businesses to Develop Alternatives to Help Encourage Tourist Activity

Possible Alternatives Modify Restriction Hours Only for “Tour” Buses with Itinerary and Roster Example: 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Prohibit Loading New Passengers (except at hotels) Create Specific Bus “No Stopping” Zones Areas that Don’t Have Enough Space to Accommodate Buses Charlotte/Garvey – near Public Safety Center Prospect/Garvey – near McDonald’s

Next Steps Feedback from Public/City Council If Interested, work on modifications to ordinance for further consideration
