Getting the Most out of what You Got Mike Singletary Jim Harbaugh 6-10 13-3

I WANT THAT GIFT!! In the 1st Century 2014 People were jealous People were arrogant 2014 Wishing they had no gifts “I can’t…I’m not good at that”

Romans 12:3-5 For by the grace given to me I say to everyone of you: Do not think of yourselves more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourselves with sober judgment, in accordance with the measure of faith God has given you. Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.

God Expects us to Perform “I don’t have a gift” You are calling God a liar Maybe you just don’t know your gift “I don’t want to use my gift” You are being lazy AND defiant toward God

Parable of the Talents Matt 25:14-30 Talent was a large unit of weight – 75 pounds 1 talent was 6,000 denarii or 6,000 days pay 5 talents was a 100 years pay 2 talents was 40 years pay 1 talent was 20 years pay There was an expectation by the master

Points to Notice Some have more talents than others But EVERYONE has at least ONE Every Christian has AT LEAST ONE gift Are you using it? Is it under the pew? God is going to ask you what you did with it

So What is Your Gift?

Romans 12:6-8 We have different gifts, according the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is giving to the needs of others, let him give generously, if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.

Prophecy A spokesperson for someone (God) Of all the spiritual gifts, this is the only miraculous You have a gift in taking the word of God(Bible) and proclaiming it to people Is that you?

Serving Similar to where we get the word Deacon Some people have the ability to see what needs to be done and the skills to do what needs to be done Is that you?

Teaching Similar to prophecy, but this person has the ability to compose an argument persuade someone logically Great debater Do you like indepth study? Are you good with words? Is this you?

Encouraging The teaching gift focuses on the logic while the encouraging gift focuses on the heart Push you to actually do what you have learned Is this you?

Giving Savvy when it comes to finances They have a generous heart Never hold back what they have Is this you?

Leadership Ability to rally people Inspire people No fear of making tough choices Not swayed by popular opinion Is this you?

Mercy Literally means “to feel sympathy for” Knowing when someone needs help and when they need space Is this you?

Today we put all our pieces together
