European Multidisciplinary Seafloor and Water Column Observatory - Portugal (EMSO-PT) Nuno Lourenço – nuno.lourenco@ipma.pt (on behalf of Miguel Miranda)

EMSO: European component of a global observatory network General Scientific Goals: Plate tectonics Ocean circulation and climate change Marine ecosystem dynamics and ocean produtivity Geo hazards Non-renewable marine resources Ensure long term continuous observations Foster technology development and innovation

The background: Portuguese teams have participated in all phases of the development of this infrastructure: ESONET – FP6 NETWORK OF EXCELENCE, 2007 – Draws the societal, scientific and technical foundations of EMSO; EMSO PP – FP7 and ESFRI – EMSO PREPARATORY PHASE, 2008. Legal and governance structure; EMSO DEV – H2020, 2015 – Design and develop the EMSO generic instrument module; EMSO ERIC - Set2016 - European Research Infrastructure Consortium granted by the commission. Portugal is one of the funder members; EMSO – PT – FCT National Infrastructure. National consortium to install the portuguese EMSO nodes. Contract signed Jun2017

EGIM: “EMSO Generic Instrument Module”
