Childhood Dwight David Eisenhower was born on October 14, 1890 in Denison, Texas. He was the third brother of seven brothers. Dwight liked to play football. At one football game someone grabbed his leg which made him trip. When the doctor inspected his leg it had been seriously injured. Adult Life Eisenhower decided to join the U.S. Army, even though the doctor said his leg would stop him from being a good soldier. After he been in the army awhile, the country entered World War II. The U.S. entered the war when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor. Eisenhower worked his way up to Supreme Commander. The war with Japan ended on August 6, 1945 because the U.S. dropped the atomic bomb. www.eisenhower.archives.gov/.../ 72947.html

Career Many years after the war ended, Eisenhower ran for President. He won the election. He was married to Mamie Genevain. They later had 2 kids named Doug and Sheldon Eisenhower. Dwight D. Eisenhower was the 34th President, from 1953-1961. www.eisenhower.archives.gov/.../ 72947.html

Final Years He retired to his Kentucky farm. There he had two mild heart attacks. Then at Washington Hospital, he suffered three more heart attacks, which made him very ill.
