Undergraduate Admissions Holistic Review What we consider when reviewing an applicant file: High school performance Grade-point averages Grade trends Completion of required entrance courses Strength of academic program, evidenced by the number of academic, honors, or advanced placement courses completed SAT and/or ACT scores English Proficiency Examination results Extra-curricular activities/leadership Essay Employment Performance in local context

New Student and Total Headcount Enrollment Record Applications for Fall 2017 56,000+ applications (first-year and transfer) university-wide 41,000+ first-year applications, a 5% increase from last year New Student Enrollment: Expecting 8,400 first-years and approx. 4,850 transfer students Total Headcount Enrollment Fall 2017: expecting over 69,000 Expecting another record enrollment University-wide Data as of 8/18/17 and subject to slight change with final counts.

Financial Aid Total financial aid budget: approx. $1 billion At Rutgers, cost of attendance has increased significantly over the last 5 years Direct Charges: tuition, fees, room and board (including meal plans) Indirect Charges: books, travel and miscellaneous expenses For undergraduate students living on-campus, direct charges are approx. $27,000 for in-state residents and approx. $43,000 for out-of-state students this year Financial aid plays an important role in student retention

Retention and Graduation Rates Student retention has revenue, reputation, and social impacts for Rutgers and New Jersey Primary indicators for evaluating student success Steady improvement in retention and graduation rates over the last 5 years has been achieved with an EOF program Only AAU public with an EOF program

Retention and Graduation Rates Notes: 1-YR retention rate based on 2015 cohort, and 6-YR graduation rate based on 2010 cohort. New Brunswick 1-YR retention rate includes RBHS.

New Student Information System Current system is outdated and inefficient Approximately 30 years old Does not utilize web-based technological innovations Not integrated across university departments Any changes to the system must be done manually Rutgers is one of the few universities without an integrated system
