Organizational Leadership Undergraduate Advisor Mrs. Fallon Willoughby, M.A.Ed. TPH 226 Phone: 270-745-5137 Email: fallon.willoughby@wku.edu Fallon attended WKU and graduated in May of 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and English Literature.  While attending WKU, she worked as a tutor in the Alice Rowe Learning Assistance Center, and upon graduating decided to follow the Student Affairs career path.  She returned to WKU, and graduated with a Masters of Arts in Education, Student Affairs in August 2015.  From September 2015 to July 2016, she worked with Americorps as a Kentucky College Coach. Fallon married her high school sweetheart, and together they have an adorable son.  She enjoys spending time with them, reading and writing, and working on her novel.  She also writes book reviews for the Bowling Green Daily News.  Crafting is her new favorite hobby, especially from old books. She is making everything from book page wreaths to book pumpkins. Fall, baking, Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter are just a few of her obsessions and fandoms.

5th Week Assessment All freshmen and sophomores in developmental classes, 100 level classes, and 200 level classes Instructors indicate: Passing D/F Excessive Absences Early enough to withdraw from a class Still time to turn things around Follow-Up by instructors, residence hall staff Organizational Leadership advisors will follow up with students on D/F and Excessive Absences on the 5th Week Assessments.

BS in Organizational Leadership Requirements 48 semester hours: 24 hours in the leadership core 24 hours in identified electives University requirements for admission, continuance in the program, and graduation Students who transfer to WKU with an applied associate degree (e.g., Associate of Applied Science) receive a 12-hour waiver from the overall upper-level course requirement. The following restrictions apply to this major: no more than 24 semester hours from the School of Journalism and Broadcasting; no more than 30 hours in courses administered by the Gordon Ford College of Business; no more than 12 upper-level semester hours from the Gordon Ford College of Business.

Minor in Organizational Leadership 21 semester hours applicable to any undergraduate student desiring a minor Students must earn a grade of “C” or above in the courses required for this minor. LEAD 200, 325, 330, 395, 400, and two electives chosen in consultation with the Leadership Studies advisor.

JUMP Program Joint Undergraduate-Master's Programs provide students the opportunity to complete both an undergraduate and graduate degree in approximately five years. Qualified students who have been admitted to a JUMP may complete a maximum of 18 graduate hours as an undergraduate student and count a maximum of 12 hours on both the undergraduate and graduate transcript. Students will apply to the Graduate School upon or before earning more than 18 graduate hours. The requirements to do the Organizational Leadership JUMP Program is to have at least a 3.0 GPA Overall, and have completed 75.00 credit hours.  The standard plan for the program would look like this: LEAD 500 would replace LEAD 400. LEAD 525 would replace LEAD 330. LEAD 540 would replace LEAD 440. LEAD 550 would replace LEAD 450. Colonnade Requirements Your advisor can also help with questions about the Colonnade Program Colonnade classes are required for all WKU students in Bachelor’s degree programs Colonnade is new beginning for students who started WKU in Fall 2014, so be careful when getting course suggestions from friends and family—they may have had a different set of requirements than you

iCAP Interactive Curriculum & Academic Progress iCAP is a degree audit that can be run through TopNet An iCAP can be run to check completion of Colonnade requirements, major/minor requirements, or a What-If major/minor

iCAP Diagrams to help understand overall progress. GPA is important to note. Must have a 2.0 to graduate If a transfer student, you must have a 2.0 GPA from your WKU specific classes as well. Make sure you major is correct. When overall requirements are in good standing, or fulfilled within your iCAP they are green, versus when they are not and are in red.

icap As will be noted late in the PowerPoint, you need 120 total hours (minimum) to graduate. This section of the iCAP will help you keep track of that. You also have to take a total of 42 hours UPPER LEVEL. 300 or 400 level classes. Please watch out for this! This can keep many here another semester. Note that IP means In Progress (classes currently enrolled in)

iCAP This iCAP is for an Organizational Leadership major. iCAP breaks down each section of requirements for you. A minus sign besides a number means that it is not complete. A plus sign means that you have fulfilled that section. Each will tell you how many hours you need, and then give you a list of choices for classes. If you click on the blue class (for ex. LEAD 325), it will give you the class name and description and whether it requires any prerequisite classes (classes you must take first).

iCAP The Colonnade Program is a the bottom of your iCAP. It is broken down by requirements. Again, this follows the same design. Plus sign – complete, Minus sign – not complete. Please note your choices. For Organizational Leadership as your major, you can take Math 109 as your math, or Match 116 (please note that if you want to take statistics, Math 116 is needed).

iCAP The next sections of Colonnade. Please review these carefully and make sure you follow the requirements. Some people suggest taking all your general education classes first, before beginning major requirements. I do not suggest that, but it is up to you. To meet your Upper Level requirements without taking extra classes, you do need to do some of your Colonnade requirements in Upper Level classes.

iCAP Connections courses are another section without the Colonnade program. You must have taken 21 hours of Foundations and Explorations coursework or have Junior standing to take these classes. Please note that LEAD 450 counts as both a Section 2 connections course and for our major (you kill two birds with one stone, so to speak).

iCAP Your World Language Proficiency must be meet by junior standing. If you decide to take a different language than what you had in high school (so you had Spanish in high school but now want to take French), you must take 101 and 102. 102 counts toward the requirement, not 101. If you do the same language, you can enroll into 102, without 101. Your general electives will show here. These classes did not count towards your major, minor, or Colonnade. You should try to have very few general electives. Finally at the bottom is courses without submitted grades, which should be whatever you are currently enrolled in.

TopNet TopNet is your online source of university information: Class offerings/registering for classes Scheduling an advising appointment Student schedule 5th Week Assessment Unofficial student transcript Change of Major Form ICAP Financial Aid (accepting loans, etc) Employee services if you work as a student worker (paystub, etc) Personal information (sign up for emergency text alerts, checking your address, etc.)

TopNet – Adding and Dropping Classes Login to TopNet Click on Student Services Click on Registration Click on Select Term. Choose the term you want to change (Fall 2015). Submit. Click on Register/Add/Drop Classes To drop a class, use the drop-down menu next to the course you want to drop. Click Submit Changes at the bottom of the screen. To add a class, you can type in the course CRN# into a gray box and click Submit Changes. If you do not know which course you want to add, click on Course Search to see available options.

Looking at Holds Log into TopNet Click on Student Services Click on Student Records Click on View Holds Any holds will be listed, with a phone number to call and a brief description Your advising hold will be lifted during your advising appointment. Please take care of any other holds on your account.

Blackboard Requires student WKU Net ID#/password for login Online course system that is required to use in many courses Course syllabus is often located here Grades may be posted on BB Discussion Board forums Class notes and power points *Note that although many WKU instructors use Blackboard, not all instructors do. *

Graduation Reality Minimum of 120 hours needed 12 hour minimum to be full time BUT… 12 hours X 8 semester = 96 hours 15 hrs/semester = 120 hours in 4 years Or winter and summer hours can be taken to supplement spring and fall classes Developmental courses (course number of less than 100) do not count towards total hours for graduation or overall GPA If you fail a course, all is not lost. You can repeat a maximum of six courses. To discuss this policy, see your advisor

Tips for Academic Success Attend class Notify your instructor before missing a class if possible, with a professional email Do the required reading Complete assignments on-time/early Keep coursework high on your priorities Academic Dishonesty will earn you an F Check your WKU email/Blackboard every morning
