All info can be found on shhkids.org under “Volunteer” How to Plan a SHH Trip All info can be found on shhkids.org under “Volunteer”

Registration! Go to the “Trips” tab on shhkids.org and click on the trip you would like to go on Decide if you want to put the deposit down ($150) or pay for the entire trip ($650 early bird price-$750 normal) After payment, you will set up your own fundaround page that you can fundraise on and make your final payments for the trip. You have until exactly two weeks before your trip to pay your remaining balance. Your remaining balance is payable online by logging into your fundaround account. Once logged in, you can go under “myFundables” and locate your trip.

Book your flight! You will be flying into San Pedro Sula Airport (SAP) and must book your flights on the exact start and end dates of your trip! (Recommended that you arrive before 3 PM on the start day so you can relax before a long week) Tips: Use skyscanner.com to compare prices for cheap flights Book a flight on Tuesday nights, usually when prices are lowest Double check layover times and locations, if you choose a long layover, make sure you land in Honduras on the correct day ($50 late fee if you come in on a different day)

flight info & Check passport You must let SHH know when you are flying in and leaving in order to plan pick up times Fill out an online document with your info 14 days before your trip ($50 late fee) Can find link on SHHkids.org under Volunteer Make sure your passport does not expire for at least 6 more months or you will need to renew (Do not need a VISA) Make 3 copies of your passport, give one to an emergency contact, carry one while in Honduras, and keep one in your bag

Immunizations and Traveler’s insurance Immunizations you need, you should have the first three already, prepare 4-6 weeks in advance– need to take medication before you leave: Hepatitis A Hepatitis B Measles Typhoid (pills or vaccine) Malaria Pills Purchase Traveler's Insurance if your insurance doesn’t cover you on the trip (Recommended: Volunteer Card) This card provides emergency medical insurance, baggage delay, emergency evacuation and more. Website: https://www.volunteercard.com/purchase/

Register with Department of State Enter info about your upcoming trip on the Department of State website in case of emergencies (https://travelregistration.state.gov/step/) Address of where you are staying: Villa Soleada 38 KM, Road to Tela El Progreso, Yoro, Honduras Click on “Traveling” Box and fill out information

Call Credit Card Company & Write down emergency contacts Call your credit card company and inform them that you’ll be leaving the country. They may freeze your account if you try to use your card in Honduras. Avoid using your card in Honduras, bring cash that you can exchange at the airport when you land (Small bills in good condition- $20s and less are best), use card in emergencies Give parents and/or relatives SHH’s emergency number: 011-504-9637-3088 and (631) 505-3744 Leave a message on the answering machine if there is not an answer There is Wi-Fi and electricity to charge your phone for use, but some times there are power outages and not everyone can be connected to the Wi-Fi at once.

Arrival and Issues If for some reason a change occurs DURING your trip (i.e., you miss a connection), please call us at 011-504-9637-3088 and email us at trips@SHHkids.org to inform us of these changes. After you arrive, you will go through immigration, baggage claim and customs. This process is sometimes lengthy but the airport is tiny and easy to navigate. When you leave customs with all of your bags, SHH staff members will be waiting for you with a big sign. Once everyone on your bus shift arrives, you will go to the hotel to relax. If some of your bags do not arrive, your airline company will give you a slip. Our staff members can pick up your lost baggage later in the week. ** From shhkids.org **
