Learning Objectives Upon completion of this session, participants should be able to: Create basic financial reports in Mgt Reporter Have an understanding of report generation and distribution This slide is required in order for the student to justify receiving CPE credit for the session. An excellent article by on writing learning objectives is referenced on this slide. In part, here are some of the tips from this article: Learning objectives should reflect what the participant should know or be able to do at the end of a learning period. Instructional objectives reflect what the instructor/sponsor intends to accomplish. In other words, what the learner is to do rather what the instructor is to teach. Stated another way, a learning objective is student oriented, but a teaching or instructional objective describes a process. The objective should describe a participant outcome rather than what will be taught (or "covered"). The best way to communicate these learning objectives effectively is to use specific action verbs. "An excellent format to introduce the statement of learning objectives is: “Upon completion of this (session, course, workshop, etc.) participants should be able to..." Use good action verbs like "explain", "describe", "discuss", "assess", "determine", "analyze", "differentiate". Words to avoid include "understand", "know", and "learn". Keep the learning objective statements simple and brief. Avoid including too much detail so the effort of writing the objectives does not become discouraging and the requirements overwhelming to the students. At the same time, it is to the sponsor's advantage not to be too general or broad in stating the learning objectives, esp. when considering that a potential participant could have many and varied CPE activities to choose from competitors. Every CPE activity must have one or more learning objective. A caution - when instructional planners first start to write objectives they tend to write descriptions of what is to occur during the instruction as if they were learning objectives. For example, "to view a filmstrip on animal habits" or "to read pages 45-60 in the text" would be examples of activities in the session and not indications of learning outcomes. When unsure if what is being stated is an objective, ask: Is this what I want the student to be able to do at the end of the course or unit.

Key Features & Functionality Building block approach to report design Rows Columns Reporting Trees Mix and match building blocks Run time options Date, Level of detail, Output, Headers, footers…

Report design (Rows, Column, and Tree) Think of a financial report as a series of rows and columns. FRx takes a building block approach to report design, by allowing you to create row and column templates that are independent of one another. Rows are defined within row formats, column contents defined in Column Layouts, and in the optional reporting tree hierarchies are stored to represent individual reports, departments or entities. These individual building blocks can then be mixed and matched to create a series of financial reports. In this example the Row Format is a summary Income Statement Column Layout is for the Current Period activity and Year to Date amounts A Reporting Tree is used for creating reports by Region These building blocks can be re-used for subsequent reports which helps reduce setup and maintenance.

Reusable Building Blocks In this second sample report, the same Row Format is being used with a different Column Layout to create an Income Statement with Actual, Budget and Variance. No reporting tree is used, thereby generating a report for the entire company. FRx is built to empower finance and accounting users to create their own reports, and has a significant amount of built in financial intelligence. Notice the variance column is expressed where favorable variances are positive amounts and unfavorable variances are negative amounts, and formatted in red. In other words, if Revenue is over budget it’s a positive amount or favorable, and in the same column if Expenses are over budget the variance is a negative amount or (un-favorable)
