Life’s Too Short For That Psalms 38 and 39

Behold, You have made my days as handbreadths, and my lifetime as nothing in Your sight; surely every man at his best is a mere breath.  Surely every man walks about as a phantom. Psalm 39:4-6

…my body wasted away through my groaning all day long …my body wasted away through my groaning all day long.  For day and night your hand was heavy upon me; my vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer. Psalm 32:3-4

Your arrows have sunk deep into me and your hand has pressed down on me, there is no soundness in my flesh because of your indignation…I go mourning all day long? Psalm 38:2-3,6

My loved ones and my friends stand afar off My loved ones and my friends stand afar off. Those who seek my life lay snares for me; and those who seek to injure me have threatened destruction, and they devise treachery all day long…my enemies are vigorous and strong… Psalm 38:11-12, 19

I said, “I will guard my ways that I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth as with a muzzle… Psalm 39:1-2a

My sorrow grew worse Psalm 39:2b

My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned; then I spoke with my tongue… Psalm 39:3

The reason God didn’t leave David alone in his sin is the reason He won’t leave you and me alone in ours.

For I hope in You, O LORD; You will answer, O Lord my God… And now, Lord, for what do I wait? My hope is in You. Psalm 38:15, 39:7

Do not forsake me, O LORD; O my God, do not be far from me Do not forsake me, O LORD; O my God, do not be far from me. Make haste to help me, O Lord, my salvation! Psalm 38:21-22 Hear my prayer, O LORD and give ear to my cry; do not be silent at my tears, for I am a stranger with You, a sojourner like all my fathers.  Psalm 39:12

Turn your gaze away from me, that I may smile again, before I depart and am no more. Psalm 39:13

Life’s too short for that! Don’t waste time, like David did.    Life’s too short for that!
