Module 7: Cub Scout Fish Games

Introduction Baden Powell once said that “Scouting is a Game with a Purpose”. Module 7 introduces both the leaders and the youth to the importance of games in learning a skill. In this module… FISHING Games! The following are only a few examples that can help get the leaders started in that direction. For more information or share a game idea, contact Bill Pepito of the National Fishing Committee at billpepito@gmail.com. Cheers!

Back Yard Bass Back Yard Bass was introduce in 2014 to the Scouting Community as a Cub Scout activity where water was not available for fishing. Bill Pepito Certified Angling Instructor and National Fishing Task Force member used this activity while an instructor of the Wisconsin DNR Angler Education Program for youth. This activity is extremely popular both indoor and outdoor. Assign a value for hitting the target which can be a Hula Hoop/or Paper Plate(1 point for inside hoop & 2 for hitting the plate). 2.) Point Score for the type of Fish caught. ( See example) Notes: It is best to rope off an area on the ground representing the shore line where each Scout is allowed to cast to the fish or hula hoop. Each successful cast is given a score.
