Batting in Rotation What is batting in rotation? All Batters bat in order Batting line up does NOT change Injured/absent players skipped over Do NOT COUNT as an OUT After three outs or five runs teams ½ inning over except Bronco & Pony BASEBALL ONLY. ALL Softball divisions as well
Scorebook sheet for batting in Rotation Players are entered in scorebook in the order they are going to BAT Once game starts, lineup cannot be changed Positions are not important except for pitching If a player is a no show, simply right absent in his slot If a player gets sick or injured, note when his bat comes up Simply draw a line through square
Scorebook line-up entered for batting in rotation Roster numbers entered Fielding positions other than pitcher not important This batting line-up cannot change Coaches can free sub positions on the field (pitcher rules apply)
Batting using substitution rules We use this when tournaments come around for Mustang & above Starter vs. Substitute How to log in book Showing inning substitute enters Re-entering the starter Substitutes only enter game once Last sub in game use when injury occurs
Scorebook lineup entered for batting with substitution rule Notice that ‘starters’ are at top of page, subs at bottom with spacing since they are batting “9” Field positions optional except pitcher Subs indicated with “S”
Substitutes go in the game Mason goes in game as sub for Tommie in bottom of 3rd inning Chase goes in game as sub for Nick in bottom of 3rd inning Matt goes in game as sub for Tyler in top of 5th inning
Starters returns to game Tommie, a STARTER, returns to the game in the top of the 5th inning in the SAME batting position he was originally in, fielding position not important unless pitching Nick, a STARTER, returns to the game in the top of the 5th inning in the SAME batting position he was originally in, field position not important unless pitching. Tyler, a STARTER, returns to the game in the bottom of the 7th inning in the SAME batting position he was originally in, field position not important unless pitching
