2015-16 Work Plan

Agenda Future year base networks Other business Adjournment Multiclass Road Assignment Network coding issues VDF Updating Truck Restrictions HOV network coding validation Transit base network updates Future year base networks Other business Adjournment

Multiclass Road Assignment Tool Expanded Version of Toll and Transit Background Road Assignment

Tool Details Based on the previously established toll-attribute road assignment with transit background tool. Functionality now exists to assign more than just the ‘auto’ mode. XTMF Module developed to facilitate use. Applied and tested on two projects thus far.

VDF Updating Work conducted in Mississauga

Work with Peel Region and Mississauga It was discovered that some roads within Peel region did not have the appropriate functional classification. Through meeting and consultation, a heuristic was developed and employed to update the VDFs of critical roadways. Heuristic: examination of adjacent land use, zoning/development maps and ‘best-practices’. Further updating? A more complete picture in Peel? Other regions?

Truck Route Restrictions Where are we now?

Open Questions It is the understanding of TMG that up-to-date truck restrictions exist in all regions except for: Halton, Peel Region except Mississauga. Are the regions satisfied with the current truck restrictions found in the base network?

HOV Network Coding Lessons Learned

HOV Lane Coding All freeway HOV lanes are coded into the base network. HOV lane functionality requires an alteration of usual auto assignment: Low-occupancy vehicles (LOV), must be denoted by a mode in EMME other than the auto mode ‘c’. Implemented to prevent auto mode dominance on road network links designated for other subclasses. HOV lane validation conducted. Validation further served to test multiclass road assignment.
