Single-thought adjectives Two words combined to make one adjective Example: blue-green color Example: self-absorbed person Example: well-read student

Proper Adjectives Example: McDonald french fries * McDonald tells you what kind of fries

Demonstrative This, that, these, those This and that are singular These and those are plural This, these—refers to something near to you. That, those—refers to something far from you Example: This coat is too short. Example: Those buildings over there are very tall.

FORMS OF ADJECTIVES 1. Positive—an adjective that describes—no comparing Example: The huge dog is in the street. 2. comparative—compares two people, places, things, or ideas. add er to one syllable adjectives. Add more to the front of adjective for most two or more syllable words Example: Pizza is more delicious than spinach. Example: Carmen is happier than Sue.

FORMS OF ADJECTIVES 3. Superlative—compares three or more people, places, things, or ideas. Add est to the end of one syllable adjectives Add most to the beginning of most two or more syllable adjectives Look for of all as a clue Example: English is the hardest subject of all. Example: She is the most talented student.
