? What is GRIP? GRIP: noun \ˈgrip\ Governor to Reduce Idle and Pollution The GRIP was created to manage the time that a vehicle spends running in idle.

How does it work? The GRIP works in conjunction with the vehicles CAN (Controller Area Network) The GRIP receives real time data on the vehicles functions including engine revolutions, transmission position, outside temperature, ignition positions and coolant temperature Other data needed for the GRIP is received through sensors added when the system is installed on the vehicle The controller of the GRIP is a PLC (programmable logic controller) that makes decisions based on the information it receives allowing it to start and stop the engine of the vehicle by simulating the operator changing the key position of the vehicle ignition

GRIP 3.0 Additional Features Operator Control • Controls what options the operator has access to. • Operator screen can be dimmed from 0-100% for better night operation. • Operator Screen can be removed completely if operator input is not required. • New high clarity screen for reduced glare. DATA • Sectionalizes the vehicles operation while the vehicle is in use. • Identifies what the vehicle is running for to determine the reasons it is idling. • Indicates operator override attempts and identifies areas for additional training. • Collects cumulative fuel consumption data as an average to provide accurate fuel savings. • GSM device can be used for easy data access without removing data from the vehicle. BATTERY • Main Battery Condition Monitoring monitors the battery performance when the vehicle shuts down. • Current Sensor measures battery charging or discharging when high current products are used. • Battery Watchdog for auxiliary equipment ensures batteries are not discharged based on voltage and time. • Battery switching option utilizes as much of the vehicle batteries as possible by extending the use of auxiliary batteries or monitors each battery bank individually. • Controller and Scheduler low voltage set points are adjustable to reduce current draw on the batteries. CLIMATE • Automatic Climate Control – Synchronizes vehicle and GRIP climate settings and maximizes efficiency of the GRIP HVAC operation. • Relative Humidity Option - Monitors humidity of air at the windshield and starts vehicle to prevent window fogging. Heating • Heating Options: Fuel fired heater, coolant pump and engine, or engine only. • Heating can be set to always operate below an outside temperature threshold. • Two schedulers available for engine preheating with multiple set times. • Auxiliary Heater Initial Run Option - Auxiliary Heater continues to operate if coolant temperature is less than 75°C. • Auxiliary Heater Engine Boost – If the Auxiliary Heater can’t maintain the heat the engine will start to aid in maintaining the coolant temperature. Cooling • Air Conditioning Options: Engine, DC air conditioning system or no air conditioning. • Air conditioning can be set to always operate above an outside temperature threshold. ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONALITY • Language Selector – Choice of language that will be displayed on the operator screen. • Shore Power – Stops the vehicle from starting when shore power is connected • High Idle Function – Sends a control signal to the vehicle ECM to enable the high idle feature • Passenger Seatbelt Enable - Starts the vehicle when the driver’s seatbelt is fastened and controls Max Idle - No Occupants when it is unfastened. • Safe Mode Option - Allows the vehicle to enter into a monitoring mode for extreme conditions. SERVICE TOOL Overview • Real Time Information shows all of the sensors and vehicle information in real time. • Flexible settings not accessible by the user screen. • Diagnostics for Inputs and Outputs. • Configurable Inputs and Outputs for use of additional functionality. Continuous Run Options • Anti-Theft Only Option - The vehicle will only shut down when in anti-theft mode. • Seat Belt Off Only - The vehicle will only shut down when the driver seatbelt has been unbuckled. • PTO/Lights/Aux - The vehicle will only shut down when the PTO/Lights/Aux input is not activated. Idle Control Settings • Multiple max idle times based on whether the operator is in the vehicle or for safety conditions. • More flexible settings for each function of idle times and max run times. • Throttle override can be optional to remove any way for an operator to override the system. Alarm Options • Alarm can be adjusted to warn the operator of shut down or start up at an adjustable frequency. Engine Start Options • Drivers Door Start* – Starts the engine when the driver door is opened. • Door Left Open Start* - Starts the engine and runs for the Max Idle Time - Door Left Open setting. • Brake Start – Starts the engine by pressing the brake pedal once. • Seat Belt Start* - Starts the engine once the operator fastens the seatbelt. • Air Pressure Start - Starts the engine for low air pressure on heavy trucks. Engine Options • Engine Run for Initial Low Coolant – Ensures the engine reaches temperature on initial start. • Engine Start for Low Coolant Temp – Starts the engine at the Low Engine Coolant Temp Set Point to maintain ideal engine starting conditions. *patent pending Too many to talk about in this presentation!
