Year 10 Work Experience How it works

Where do I start looking for a placement? Start by reading through the leaflets in your pack. Make use of any contacts you already have. Search the database – easily accessed through the school website. Make a list of potential employers and try phoning them. If you still need help or advice see me in the Vocational Education office any time on Tuesday or Wednesday each week

What do I do with the paperwork? The work experience form is the key to things working successfully. Parents complete the health declaration section. When a placement has been agreed ask the employer to complete the employers section. Return the form to Mrs Whittle or your Form Teacher. Remember the deadline for forms is 20 February 2017. Achievement points will be given to those who meet the deadline.

Vacancies Specialist placements are taken quickly so be ready to apply. As vacancies arise, I will advertise through Form Tutors and on the notice board outside the Vocational Education office. Today’s sought after vacancies: HM Courts, Exeter Nicholls Basker Partners (Structural Engineering) Centrax, Newton Abbot Wotton Printers (Graphic Design) Peplows Accountancy, Newton Abbot Exeter City Football Club

What should I be doing straight away? Start looking for a placement NOW, popular placements are filled very quickly. Make sure you get your work experience form completed and returned to me before 20 February 2017. If you need help don’t wait until the last minute, speak to your Form Tutor or come to see me. Choose something you think you will enjoy and make the most of this opportunity.
