About RSLogix Profiles In RSLogix 5000 & Studio 5000 We supply full configuration profiles for devices that you wish to integrate into a Logix based processor. These configurations are graphical in nature and create the structure (tags) to be used to communicate to the device looking to integrate. Often times minimal knowledge is required of the device to be integrated as many of the functions are just selections within the profile. At release of each version of software we automatically install all the latest profiles for you from Rockwell and our Encompass Partners. If there is profile that is created after the release Rockwell and our Encompass partners provide an Add on Profile (AOP) that can be downloaded and installed (simple executable) that then integrates this latest profile into RSLogix 5000. If an Profile is not available, and you wish to provide better integration that a Generic Module profile, then one can leverage a new tool within RSLogix 5000 v 20 that creates some basic tags based upon the Electronic Data Sheet (EDS) for that device. This feature is called EDS AOP

Connection performance improvements 2.) ADC Settings window enhancements 3.) NAT Router support for when a NAT Router is located between the Logix controller and drive 4.) PowerFlex 520 Series support added in 22-COMM Multi-Drive applications 5.) DeviceLogix support was added for the SMC-50 v4 firmware release Three significant anomaly fixes were also made. Details of each enhancement and anomaly fix are covered in the following slides.

Drive AOPs v4.06 Connection Performance Improvements Removal of Connect to Drive button on Drive tab When online with the controller, the AOP will automatically begin correlation when the Drive tab is opened Reduced time to correlate and go online with a drive Timing tests show approximately 33% faster New progress bar versus old progress text If you have used a PowerFlex 520 Series AOP in addition to a PowerFlex 750 Series AOP you will have noticed that they not only look different, but there is also a performance difference (PF 520 Series AOPs are faster). Some of this is due to the differences between a simpler component class drive versus a full-featured, multi-option architecture class drive. Another reason is the new PF520 Series AOPs are using new software code whereas the PF750 Series AOPs are using older DriveExecutive components. All Drive AOPs are in the process of being switched over to the new software code, but some performance improvements are being provided to the existing Drive AOPs in the meantime. The “Connect to Drive” button was removed to eliminate a manual ‘step’ by the user to click it. Since Studio 5000 requires online operation with a device anytime the user is online with the controller, the AOP will automatically begin correlation when the Drive tab is opened. Time performance improvements will vary from PC to PC. On my 3+ year old Windows 7 laptop, I saw a 33% improvement in correlating and going online. The new progress bar provides the same progress text as before but now also gives an indication of overall progress. It is more apparent to the user when work is still in progress.

Drive AOPs v4.06 Connection Performance Improvements Can now go online with a drive regardless of the presence / absence of a HIM or Serial Converter versus the drive in the project In previous AOP versions the user would have been prohibited from going online Offline drive has HIM Online drive has no HIM Studio 5000 previously had strict requirements for an online device matching the device in the project in order to go online with the device from the AOP. In v4.05 Drive AOPs (and lower), the presence or absence of a HIM or serial converter would prohibit the user from going online with a drive. With v4.06 Drive AOPs ‘temporary’ devices, such as HIMs and serial converters, can now be “ignored” and the user can go online with a drive. Online with drive PF755 v4.05 (and lower) PF755 v4.06 (and higher) Prohibited from continuing (unable to go online with drive)

Drive AOPs v4.06 Connection Performance Improvements Automatically starts a comparison when “Differences Found” due to a checksum difference If no differences are found, the process automatically continues (no user action required) PF755 v4.06 (and later) Improved user workflow and ability to go online Studio 5000 previously had strict requirements for an online device matching the device in the project in order to go online with it from the AOP. In v4.05 Drive AOPs (and lower), differences in drive parameter configuration could prohibit the user from going online with a drive: - If the user didn’t check “Show Details” there was no opportunity to go online - If the user checked “Show Details” there was an opportunity to “Continue” and potentially go online v4.06 reduces some of the nuisance “differences found” notices, has a better workflow (no dead-end path like v4.05), and a dedicated button to “Show Differences”. PF755 v4.05 (and earlier) Can’t go online Allows user to “Continue” to get online

At some point in the future, the Drives Web Updates site will just hyperlink to the PCDC. Although v4.06 works back to v16, the Operating System needs to be Windows XP SP3 or later.
