Stage of Writing: Prewriting Prewriting is what you do before you write. In this stage you organize your ideas and your thoughts.

Stage of Writing: Prewriting There are 4 things to consider during the Prewriting Stage: Form: The form we are using is a Cinquain Poem. Purpose: The purpose of this stage is to help organize your ideas and thoughts.

Stage of Writing: Prewriting Four things to consider Continued: 3. Audience: Are you writing for yourself or for others? 4. Topic: You can choose your own topic.

Practice Activity We will fill out the graphic organizer together as a class. Let’s think about the topic of our cinquain poem. Does anyone have a topic they would like to write about? Have a student come to the board to write the topic on line one.

Practice Activity Think of 2 adjectives that describe line 1. Have 2 students come to the board to write the adjectives on line 2. Think of 3 action verbs that describe line one. The verbs must end in i-n-g. Have 3 students write the verbs on line 3.

Practice Activity Think of 4 words. These words can be feelings or a complete sentence that relate to line 1. Have a student write the words on line 4. Think of a synonym or a word that sums up the topic. Have a student write the word on line 5.

Assessment Activity Now, you are to fill out your own graphic organizer. I will give you a copy of the same one we did in class. You can choose any topic you want to write about.
