Of that amount, approximately 53% of funds went towards asphalt related items. This was a major investment for the taxpayers of Alabama. A good roadway network is critical to the economy. 26th Annual Alabama Asphalt Pavement Conference Special Provision 12-1597 Sections 703 and 856 Preformed Traffic Control Markings 703.01 Description Preformed thermoplastic markings may be used for permanent striping, and for other circumstances as designated by the Engineer. 703.02 Materials Preformed traffic markings and legends shall also meet the requirements given in Article 856.10. Special Provision 12-1657 Section 109 Measurement and Payment Allows use of electronic signatures. Allows use of remote ticketing. Trucks used to haul material being paid by weight shall be measured empty daily, with the driver in the truck, to establish a daily tare weight. Each truck shall also bear a plain legible identification number. As a minimum, the weight ticket shall contain the following: 3) Truck number and maximum legal load for the designated haul route. 8) Weighmaster’s signature. Electronic Weighmaster Signatures Feb. 1, 2016 letter to ARBA and AAPA: Attached is Special Provision No. 12-1657 revising Item 109.01(h)2 of the specifications to allow a Weighmaster to electronically sign weight tickets when a scale location has remote ticketing capability. Please note that this allowance also requires additional information to be included on the weight ticket; specifically, the maximum legal load for the haul route and the name of the pay item being delivered. This Special Provision will be included in proposals starting with the February 2016 letting, and may be considered applicable to any current projects on which the Contractor has the capability to meet the new specification requirements. 26th Annual Alabama Asphalt Pavement Conference
Electronic Weighmaster Signatures Feb. 3, 2016 letter to ARBA and AAPA: An aggregate supplier contacted this office asking for clarification of the intent of our February 1, 2016 letter stating that the Department would begin allowing electronic signatures on weight tickets at scale locations with remote ticketing capability. The supplier asked if it would also be allowable to utilize electronic signatures at scale location that do not have remote ticketing capability. At such locations, the Weighmaster would sign the ticket electronically, but still physically deliver the ticket to the driver. The answer to the supplier’s question is yes, the Department’s will allow electronically signed tickets delivered in this manner. 26th Annual Alabama Asphalt Pavement Conference
