Commandment of Allah (swt) O you who have believed, protect yourselves and your families from a Fire whose fuel is people and stones, over which are [appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they do not disobey Allah in what He commands them but do what they are commanded. (At-Tahrim:6)

Importance of Following Sunnah He who obeys the Messenger has obeyed Allah ; but those who turn away - We have not sent you over them as a guardian. (An-Nisa:80)

Importance of Following Sunnah So let those beware who dissent from the Prophet's order, lest fitnah strike them or a painful punishment. (An-Nur:63)

What is Sunnah? Literal meaning – “Road” or “Practice” It denotes any saying (qawl), action (fi'l), approval (taqrîr), whether physical (khilqiyya) or moral (khuluqiyya) ascribed to the Prophet (saw).

Teaching Sunnah to Children Anas (ra) said: “Allah’s messenger (saw) was one of the best of men in character. One day, he sent me to do something, and I said: “I swear by Allah that I will not go”. But in my heart I felt that I should go to do what the Prophet of Allah had commanded me. So I went out and came upon some boys who were playing in the street. All of a sudden Allah’s Messenger, who had come up behind, caught me by the back of the neck, and when I looked at him, he was smiling. He said: “Go where I ordered you, little Anas”. I replied: “Yes, I am going, messenger of Allah!” (Abu Dawud)

Teaching Sunnah to Children Reported by Abdullah ibn Shaddad from his father: “The Messenger of Allah (saw) came out to lead us in either maghrib or ‘isha’ one night, and he was carrying Hassan or Husain. The Messenger of Allah came forward and put (the child) down, then he said takbir and started to pray. During the prayer, he prostrated and made his prostration long. My father said: “I raised my head and I saw the child on the back of the Messenger of Allah whilst he was prostrating, so I returned to my prostration.” When the Messenger of Allah finished praying, the people said: “O Messenger of Allah, during your prayer you prostrated for so long that we thought something had happened or that you were receiving Revelation.” He said: Nothing at all happened, but my son was riding on my back and I did not want to disturb him until he had had enough. (An-Nisa’i)

Tips and Tricks AGE WHAT CAN WE DO? 0-2 years Recite Qur’an, duas, smile, hug, start everything with bismillah. 3-4 years Help them learn Arabic alphabets, short surahs, duas, narrate stories of the Prophets, play with them, teach them salam and other Islamic manners. 5-6 years Teach them good behaviour, to always speak the truth, help others. Ingrain in them to always ask Allah (swt) for help even for small things, sunnah food. 7-10 years Teach them salah (actions and wordings), encourage them to offer nawafil for all their needs, healthy activities, listen to them and answer their queries, share stories of Shabah and Sahabiyat. 11-13 years No compromise on Salah, encourage them to keep fasts, teach them to have good akhlaq and not fight, have good company, give them small chores to do, learn responsibility, making astughfar.

Prophetic Way of Tarbiyah So by mercy from Allah , [O Muhammad], you were lenient with them. And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you. So pardon them and ask forgiveness for them and consult them in the matter. And when you have decided, then rely upon Allah . Indeed, Allah loves those who rely [upon Him]. (Al-e-Imran: 159)
