What is Drafting?

Drafting is communication through drawn images.

The first known example of Drawings and DRAFTING!!! Cave Paintings - 14,000 YEARS OLD! Found in France.

Drafting - the first language. Since drawing is the first documented sign of people trying to communicate Drawing and drafting is actually the first LANGUAGE.

Who is the most famous Drafter? Leonardo DaVinci

Drafting = Technical Drawing is the act and discipline of composing plans that visually communicate how something functions or is to be constructed. Technical drawing is essential for communicating ideas in industry, engineering, and architecture.

Sketches are the first level of drafting. A sketch is a way to quickly get an idea on paper. In sketching, all that is needed is a pencil and piece of paper. The most important part of a sketch is Clarity and Proportion.

Alphabet of lines: http://Alphabet of lines Line types are very important when it comes to drafting. Each line type means something different: Example: – a thick continuous line represents the outer edge of an object where as a thin dotted line represents an edge of and object that cannot be see from the angle you are looking at.
