Canadian Armed Forces Pilot William Tipper Career Project Canadian Armed Forces Pilot William Tipper

Why did you select this career? What is appealing about I to you I selected this career because I’ve always wanted to follow in my dads footsteps and he has been in the military for over 20 years and I really like the idea of serving my country and the thought of being in the military is very appealing to me.

What does this training prepare you to do? What does the job involve RCAF pilots are the units that pilot the aircraft for transport, War purposes, Cargo or morale (Snow Birds) and are the most important forces in the Canadian military and also the highest paid.

Training program To get this job you must have a university degree and I could obtain it from Saskatoon at Saskatchewan polytechnic and it only takes 30 weeks and tuition costs $5,000 but I will also be attending the RMCC for extra education to help my chances of becoming a pilot.

Professional requirements You must have passed grade 12 Have a priMedical Certificate from a Transport Canada approved medical examiner English Language Requirement Recommended: Physics 30, Math 30 private pilot’s license Category 1

Continuing education requirements You could go to the RMCC or Royal Military College of Canada in Ontario for 3 to 4 years to have an advantage over some other and have a higher chance of becoming a pilot, the most sought after military career with the highest pay.

Where are individuals in this job employed? Wings Across Canada 1 Wing Kingston • 2 Wing Bagotville • 3 Wing Bagotville • 4 Wing Cold Lake • 5 Wing Goose Bay 8 Wing Trenton • 9 Wing Gander • 12 Wing Shearwater • 14 Wing Greenwood • 15 Wing Moose Jaw 16 Wing Borden • 17 Wing Winnipeg • 19 Wing Comox • 22 Wing North Bay

Hours/Shifts? This is a full time job and I am not completely sure on the days a week you work because there are many different jobs each one with different shifts and different days so you cant really know unless you have a friend of each rank in each position. My dad works Monday through Friday and I am not sure exactly on the hours but it is throughout most the day.

Current wages (Sask) The average wage in Saskatchewan is $85,000 but as a senior officer you could earn up to $130,000. my dad for example is a major and he is a pilot and an instructor and so he make on average $140,000 a year

Typical stresses associated with this job Well being a pilot is stressful enough considering it is extremely complicated and stressful knowing that you are flying a multi thousand dollar plane weighing some 3000 kilograms. Not to mention that even if you are just an engineer, if something goes wrong with the plane, its all on you.

Workplace hazards One of the hazards is knowing that there are explosive substances on the airfield including jet fuel and oil not to mention the fact that there are very large aircrafts flying around.

Other professionals They will also work with doctors and dentists but they will also be working with police officers as well.

Why is it so appealing to you? This job is so appealing to me because my dad is my biggest role model and I would love to follow in the same path that he took. It is also really appealing because I would love the feeling of protecting and serving my country.
