COPS What is it?? Am I under arrest?? COPS is a strategy that we use for revising our writing, it can be used for things as small as a paragraph and as large as a book.

COPS Capitalization Organization Punctuation Spelling

C.O.P.S. C: Capitalization Are the capitals in correct places? Are proper nouns, titles, and the beginnings of sentences all capitalized?

C.O.P.S. O: Organization Spaces between words & double spacing between lines? Is neat printing/ writing/ typing utilized? Are paragraphs indented? Do paragraphs follow the model? Are complete sentences used?

C.O.P.S. P: Punctuation Is the punctuation correct? Are there proper end marks, commas, semi-colons, colons, quotation marks, and hyphens used as required?

C.O.P.S. S: Spelling Are all words spelled correctly? Are you using utilizing tools such as dictionaries, or spell check?

Your Turn! I have a really cool fish tank lots of excitin things inside. Their is guppies, tetras, and a tiny shark inside. Also, their are three snail that climb up the glass walls. They eate the green algae and keep the tank clean A frog named flipper also live in the tank, but he usually hide under the rocks. It’s fun to watch all the different creatures in mi tank. C O P S
