2017 FIRST Dean's List Award Nominations opens November 10, 2016 Any 10th & 11th grade student is eligible Students are nominated by their unrelated team coach, mentors, or other adult* Celebrate your Team's top 1 or 2 student leaders by nominating them! Team as a whole must verify submission Nominations due >= 14 days before event! Nomination close will be either 7 or 21 JAN 2017 Details about this award available in the Awards Section of the Game Manual.
FIRST Dean’s List Application will require: Nominee Name Nominee Grade Nominee GPA Qualifying Event for the Dean’s List submission Nevada FIRST Tech Challenge State Championship Nomination essay of <= 4,000 characters Photos (encouraged but optional) – 3 maximum The essay is THE VITAL TOOL to present the nominee (especially for those that advance from Finalist … to Winner) People who do not know or have never met the nominee will be making their decisions off of the written word only! FOCUS the essay on the STUDENT’s accomplishments, expertise and leadership in the program… Be sure to include what their GOALS are as related to FIRST Photos – optional with a maximum of 3; one being a head shot Interviews occur a week or two ahead of event… (or possibly at qualifying event)
FIRST Dean’s List Criteria includes, but not be limited to: Demonstrated leadership and commitment to the ideals of FIRST Interest in and passion for a long term commitment to FIRST Overall individual contribution to their team Technical expertise and passion Entrepreneurship and creativity Ability to motivate and lead fellow team members Effectiveness at increasing awareness of FIRST in their school and community Bold emphasis added by Seena Drapala The Dean’s List Award began in 2010 celebrate outstanding student leaders whose passion for and effectiveness at attaining FIRST ideals is exemplary. In an effort to recognize the leadership and dedication of the FIRST most outstanding FRC students, the Kamen family sponsors this award for the selected top students. The students who earn FIRST Dean’s List Award status as a Semi-Finalist, Finalist or Winner, Student leaders who have lead their teams and communities to increased awareness for FIRST While achieving personal technical expertise and accomplishment. It is the intention of FIRST that they will continue on, post-award, as great leaders of the ever growing FIRST student alumni community and as advocates of FIRST.
