Informative Speaking

What is an informative speech? A speech that intends to educate the audience on a particular topic. Stick to the facts and avoid opinions.

Types of Informative Speeches Objects- things existing in the world: people, places, animals, products, etc… University of Texas Processes- patterns of action, demonstrates “how to” Steps for planning a wedding Events- have happened, are happening, or will happen 2016 Summer Olympics Concepts- beliefs, ideas, and theories The principles of feminism

Tips Analyze the audience- what do they already know? Use appropriate language- watch lingo and avoid talking down to your audience Explain the importance of the topic Show your passion Be specific- give the relevant details Remain neutral & informative: Avoid emotional charged words, opinions or persuasive language
