Vision EIT Food: the food I value

10 billion people by 2050

3 billion overweight, 2 undernourished

25% of our food is wasted 25% of our food is wasted

Challenges Low consumer trust & transparency Distorted nutritional habits Sustainability Fragmented supply chain Skills gap Limited entrepreneurial culture Technology adoption is slow The food sector is the largest manufacturing sector in Europe, providing 44 million jobs… but it is still stuck in the twentieth century. It is complex, consumer trust is lacking, and it’s resource inefficient: we throw away 25% of our food. Innovation is limited. Emerging technologies are slow to be adopted, and the right talent and skills are lacking.

Challenges Objectives Low consumer trust & transparency Distorted nutritional habits Sustainability Fragmented supply chain Skills gap Limited entrepreneurial culture Technology adoption is slow Overcome low consumer trust Create consumer-valued food for healthier nutrition Build a consumer-centric connected food system Enhance sustainability through resource stewardship Educate to engage, innovate and advance Catalyze food entrepreneurship and innovation Accelerate and customize innovation Via unique approach we want to address the 7 challenges the food sector and the society are facing and come up with solutions that are realistic and will be implemented. We will train xx new people; create new jobs, trigger excitement for food sector and rebuild respect/trust for those working in the sector. We will build and strengthen EIT brand. We want to have impact in a sustainable way.

Our ambition is to create a future proof and effective food sector through a connected food system, centered on the consumer, built on trust.

Boost entrepreneurship An impactful and sustainable food innovation and education organization with a strong focus on entrepreneurship and the consumer as change-agent. Go-to-market Develop talents Boost entrepreneurship
