Introduction to Welthungerhilfe (WHH): Founded in 1962 under the umbrella of the FAO One of the biggest non-governmental humanitarian aid and development agencies in Germany The key objectives are sustainable food and nutrition security. 2

First WHH’ experiences made with institutional stoves: 2014: EU funded School Meals Programme Building of 20 kitchens with a total of 50 stoves ‘a 150 l Company selected: Area 55 Consulting 4

Last WHH’ experiences made with institutional stoves: 2015-2016: GIZ funded FNSP Building of 24 kitchen with 74 (x150 l) and 24 (x50 l) stoves Applied companies: Area 55 Consulting, Zalero Contractors and Dziwani Investments Company selected: Dziwani Investments 5

Challanges: The contractor experienced challenges with the manufacturer of the metal accessories by Malunga Welding Company in Ntcheu due to erratic supply of power by Escom WHH approved engage another Manufacturer for the pots to speed up the supply to the schools. The second Manufacturer was identified in Mulanje, Ken Steel. 6

The problem was mistake in communication between the two suppliers Challanges: After all the 98 pots were delivered to the schools it was discovered that 74 pots (i.e. 54 x150 l and 20 x50 l) supplied by the second supplier, Ken Steel from Mulanje were not fitting properly on the stoves The problem was mistake in communication between the two suppliers 7

Way Foreward: WHH awaits contract signing with the GIZ NAPE project, where WHH will build 150 kitchen. After the start of the NAPE project, 74 pots will be ordered with Dzicco Investment. They will be paid by the WHH- NAPE project and replace the smaller pots in the FNSP schools. The smaller pots will be used within the WHH- NAPE project (stoves will be adjusted to the pots’ size). 8
