But UD(L) activities visible, e.g.: Spain: huge public – private partnership to strive for ‘universal accessibility’ (2011) Belgium: early adopter of UDL in HE due to activities of Siho (since 2011) The Netherlands: UDL a known concept mainly in HE due to activities H+S & UDL Nederland Ireland: UDL in HE due to activities AHEAD (UDL conference > 20 countries)

NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY & UD(L): USA UDL Nederland | www.udlnederland.nl | 2016 NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY & UD(L): USA Legislation shifted more and more towards inclusion (IDEA, NCLB) Higher Education Opportunity Act (2008): Defines UDL and mentions it as a strategy to create inclusive education Every Student Succeeds Act (2015): states must use UDL to develop assessments, comprehensive literacy instruction and new technology must be in line with UDL principles

EU: Employment Equality Directive (2000) converted to national laws by all EU-countries. Note: minimal requirements and accommodation approach. EDF (2010): Low level of awareness of disability rights and solutions.
