Why are South Facing Slopes Beneficial?

South Facing Slopes More direct sunlight(especially in winter) Gets sun earlier in the morning Often protected from prevailing NW winds Soil warms up faster in the spring and stays warmer longer in the fall Adds 2 or 3 weeks to each end of the gardening season. Every degree of slope to the south is like moving your garden south to a lower latitude Straight Ahead Organic, Shep Ogden, 1999

South Facing Slope, NW winds North Facing Slope, NW winds Straight Ahead Organic, Shep Ogden, 1999 p. 17
