NEW AND IMPROVED Reminders: Today is the LAST day allotted to working on your picture book. Get ‘er done! Story time will be Friday. Be prepared to share your picture book by reading it aloud and showing your illustrations! I will bring the cookies --- you bring your own milk!

18 February: Today, you will… CCSS.ELA-Literacy.W.11-12.4 Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience by writing a picture book and including illustrations.

February 18: Popcorn Writing Use the starter you have been given and continue writing the story. See: http://www.creative-writing-help.com/story-starters.html for story starters. As soon as the bell sounds, IMMEDIATELY STOP WRITING, and move to a new desk. Read the story another person has started and continue his or her storyline in the same vein. Repeat until time is called.

Writing & Illustrating a Picture Book Use the APP Book Creator in order to write a picture book. Your book should be 10-15 pages in length, not counting the title page. It should include illustrations, colorful and neat, on each page. Your language should be picturesque – imaginative – original – fresh! 3+ literary devices Your story should have a clear beginning, middle, and end. Correct conventions are a must. PEER REVISION: Share your rough draft via notability with someone by the end of the day. That person is then to read it and offer suggestions as to how to improve it, as well as make notes on what you have done well. He or she will then visit with you and share back.
